How much do i love these pants? SO much
1)these pants have the comfort of a sweatpant but the look of real pants
2) Hiking, climbing, biking, hanging around town etc multitasker
3)the thin, soft, stretchy material feels like a second skin, and provides protection and breathability, while drying in a snap.
4)the bottoms cinch very prettily, which is useful for climbing or on hot days
5) they come in 3 different inseams - short, regular and long. How awesome is that??
Note to backcountry: please carry the short inseam! thanks!!!

The Perfect Backpacking Pants
- Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:True to size
- Size Bought: XS-Regular Length
I hope Mountain Hardwear never stops making these pants because they are now my holy grail. I ended up buying the XS in regular length despite the fact that I'm only 5' tall. The regular length sat nicely over my trail runners for backpacking but required cinching to be worn with sandals. I am thin and athletic and the XS fit very well. The waistband is the BEST THING EVER on the trail. It's a little less stretchy than I imagined at first which may be why some people suggest sizing up. However, I found that it was snug and comfortable without much stretching. The width minimizes any muffin-top.
I wore my pants daily on a 230 miles backpacking trip this summer. They have a slight bit of wear on the thighs... and some sap stains on the buttocks from a less than ideal lunch seat (oops, my fault!). But, no tears or other issues. They will see many more trails.
From an aesthetic standpoint, my pants fit and look great. Prior to the buttocks tree sap stains, I was happy to wear them around town doing errands, etc. On the trail, they got a lot of attention from fellow hikers for looking incredibly comfortable and still feminine. I wouldn't sacrifice function for style in the wilderness, but I appreciate when to two coexist! I currently have Purple Dahlia which is a beautiful and rich burgundy-purple color. I'm ordering a second pair now as trail backup... and for town.
Sweet pants!

It's pretty tough to find cute + functional hiking pants. I like these a lot- they're comfortable, breathable, and seem durable. Took a star off for slightly awkward length/width around ankle (too short by a hair and a little too "straight legged") but they look good cinched up. I kept them since they were on sale and a good price even though I'll always wear them cinched due to the awkward ankles.
I would marry these pants.

I bought these last-minute before a two-month trip around Scandinavia in summer and they ended up being my go-to's for hiking, touring a city, biking, and casual meals out. I regularly hand-washed them and they were dry within a couple of hours. You can dress them up (within reason) or down, they are warm, and pack down to nothing. One of the best purchases I have ever made, seriously. I'd buy them in every color there is. True to size, too. If you're truly between sizes, though, I'd go up.
Is the fabric noisy? With 96% nylon, I'm afraid the pants will sound 'swishy'. Thanks!
