Description

Pro climber Ueli Steck put this jacket through the ringer, so when it's time for you to climb, you know it's fit for the cause.

Not all hooded jackets were created equal, and to that point, the Mountain Hardwear Men's Desna Pullover Hooded Jacket was designed with the help of elite climber Ueli Steck. Destined to become a favorite among the light-and-fast ascenionsts, this half-zip anorak rocks warm, breathable fabric with supreme durability and careful attention to detail that's important when you're hanging by a line and faced with brutal weather.
  • Polartec Power Stretch Hardface fabric balances durability with warmth and breathability, and does it all without requiring a bulky, heavy construction
  • Helmet-compatible hood has a shape similar to a balaclava so it provides extra face and head coverage
  • Long zipper opening makes it easy to vent hot air from underneath
  • Micro-Chamois chinguard goes easy on your face and neck

This is awesome!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Temperatures have just started to drop here and I have only used the jacket a few days, but I know this is going to be a winter favorite . Fit is just right, I am 6' and 185 and large is perfect for me. Love the hood fit to head and the sleeve length. The inside fleece lining is super comfy. With a shell over I will use all winter. Great MH product! Recommended.

I have had this piece for a little over a month and I first used it on a 5 day mission to Tuolumne. I carried it up the Harding Route fully expecting to wear it all day, but it was HOT and the route is in the sun, so it rode around my waist until the route went into the shade. Its got an athletic fit but for me isn't too tight. Compared to the patagonia R1 hoody that I've tried on this one isn't nearly as baggy. I prefer the fit of this one. Climbing in it is great, the inside is soft fleece while the outside is harder faced, which seems more durable and water/wind repellent. Worn as an outer layer, it's perfect for cool/cold summer rock climbing. I also wore it up Lucky Streaks which we did in the cool morning, and it was perfect for that. For me the ideal long route kit is a merino t-shirt, the Desna Hoody and a lightweight synthetic insulating vest (still use my 10+ year old Puff Ball vest). The hood fits better underneath a helmet. I'm 6' 158lbs and I wear a Medium.
