The standard-fit Mountain Hardwear Women's Corsica Convertible Pants cater to your needs during day hikes and weeklong backpacking trips. When the sun hits the canyon floor, zip off the Corsica's pant legs, stuff them in your pack, and continue hiking in the cool comfort of your newly formed shorts. The micro-chamois waistband lining wicks moisture and feels soft next to skin—even beneath a pack. Articulated knees and an inseam gusset let you move freely when you scramble across a scree field or jump over a stream. The Corsica's reinforced knees and seat hang tough when you kneel down to filter water or sit on a rock slab to enjoy some trail mix.

Bottom Line: Pull on the Mountain Hardwear Corsica Pants and put miles of trail behind you.

Caution: low-rise pants

By:
February 27, 2009

These pants are a low-rise cut designed to ride just at the top of your hips, which would be fine for some but not for me.
Other than that, they fit as expected, the material and details were great, and the pants had a zipper long enough to get the pant bottoms off over hiking boots.

Great for traveling and exploration

By:

I love these pants! They have literally traveled the world with me. Unfortunately I accidentally lost them - somewhere - so I'm buying a replacement. These are my go-to, wear-4-out-of 6-days, hiking/walking/exploring pants. They are low-rise, really attractive, low-wrinkle, and I love the long zippers for the ease of leg removal. The material is very durable - I've washed them a thousand times and I couldn't see a difference. As far as sizing, I am tall (5'11) and the long length is perfect. I am between sizes (6-8) and here the 6 is perfect - I think they run a little big in the waist. It could just be the "give" others have commented on. It makes them very comfortable. There's also a soft micro-chamois lining in the waist. The accent colors of the khaki are stylish. I wish more colors were available. They are a little expensive, but for all the wear I get out of them, they are a great buy and them some!

do these pants fit true to size? i'm trying to order these

do these pants fit true to size? i'm trying to order these pants online without trying them on, I am debating between the 4 and 6 long and I am usually about 28" waist in jeans, does anyone know if they fit small or big?

I tried on my friend's 8 and they were too big. So I ordered a 6. My other mountain hardware pants are a 6 and fit comfortably loose. Their sizing chart seems to be pretty accurate. Basically, a size 6 is a 31" inseam, and the long is 2 more inches longer.

Pretty solid pair of pants

By:
February 24, 2009

I agree with some of the criticism from other reviewers about the pants not having belt loops and loosening a bit after wearing them. Nonetheless, I very much like these pants. I'm tall--5'9" with 33-inch legs--and found the long length perfect. I tend to slip between wearing an 8 and 10. I first ordered the 10, and although they stayed on, I returned them and ordered the 8, which fit more snugly and therefore reduced the loosening effect.

most attractive zip offs found

By:

I loved the pants However, they would be better if they had an inner drawstring or belt loops since you often lose weight on the trail. I was afraid my pants would fall off!

moon's out

By:
April 20, 2009

I'm a climber and backpacker, I also happen to wear a size 14. These pants look fantastic if you are standing still, move around and you get half moon. no one wants to see a size 14 moon.
Everything else about these pants is great.
Mountain Hardwear if you are listening, we need a higher rise and no moon.

Mountain Hardwear Corsica Convertible Pant - Women's

By: Backcountry.com Employee
May 19, 2009

I've used the Mountain Hardwear Corsica Convertible Pant for climbing and hiking and love them. The fit is low (which I love), but a little too long. I do agree that these pants could use a belt - they would work better with a pack that way. I am 5'2" and 115, size S works well.

Low-rise, alas, and fairly roomy around the waist--or so they (size 10, short) seemed on me (5'5").

not for actual backpacking

By:
June 24, 2008

The absence of a belt or belt loops on these pants is a major design flaw. Did the designers expect the wearer to use suspenders? The pants are also quite long--the size 10, short, I tried on were skimming the ground--which means they would get pretty scuffed up in no time at all. These are pants for wearing off-trail. Handsome, but not practical.

Great pants

By:
October 27, 2008

These zip off pants actually look stylish due to the cut style. Zip on and off is easy. The pants are comfortable. My only complaint is that they don't have belt loops at the hip. I tend to like to hook things on belt loops at times, and wish they had that. Also a drawcord or something at the waist to help keep the pants on well after a full day, since the fabric is stretchy and stretches out a little at the end of the day.

better for street wear

By:
August 28, 2008

I love a lot of the MH features and their attention to detail. Unfortunately, these pants didn't have some of the touches I want in backpacking pants--things like pockets that are deep enough to actually hold things, and a waistband that doesn't slide right off of my hips by the end of one hard day. (Wearing a 2 short, so I couldn't go any smaller.)Cute for street wear (but too pricey); not recommended for backpacking.

form and function

By:

Not only are these comfortable to wear on the trail or setting up camp, not only do they dry quickly even from being rain-soaked...they are flattering. The combination of all three is rare in outdoor clothing, I love these pants!

Love the Fit

By:
May 19, 2008

I haven't tested these pants yet, but I've been searching for a pair of pants with a low rise fit. These are perfect, they sit low on the hips like your jeans. Material is very soft and comfy.

In love with these pants.

By:
July 17, 2008

These pants were exactly what I needed to cross glacially-fed creeks in Alaska, zips on and off easily and provides good wind protection. The only thing I'm not completely fond of is the waistband, after a few hours hiking the pants stretched some.. and their is no belt so I had to stop and adjust. Otherwise excellent!

Comfort

By:
September 8, 2008

Be aware that these are low riders, but that's not a bad thing. They sat at my hip bones so that my backpack had no pinch points from the waistband. Zip off was easy, but the pant legs didn't slide over my boots... but then maybe I just have big feet!

Great length!

By:
July 14, 2008

I loved these pants, I am 6'1 and got the 10-long and they were perfect. It is really hard to find long lengths in hiking pants. I do wish however there were belt loops on them.

GREAT Pants But...

By:
July 14, 2008

I also have the size 10R. I like the long length and for me they do not drag with boots on. The pockets are in an accessible reach and the zip offs work well. I like the moveability but I agree with the others that they at least need belt loops-like the men's version-or my preference would be with an inner drawstring. I am okay with the 7" inch fly and rise but I have a short waistline. For those with a long waist lines it could be a problem? I like the bottle loop on the hip but would also like another side zip poket just as the men's version has. I also Love the SPF protection. All in all they are a step up in the world of womens outdoor pants; especially in the flattering fit, cool factor and performance all being put together. I am glad I purchased a pair and if they are in your price range I believe they will work for you as well. MH Rock On you are in the right direction!

Great Pants...

By:
September 1, 2008

These pants aren't perfect, but they're pretty close. The online reviews were very helpful as I searched for long pants. My 36" inseam is a very difficult length to fit and the length of these pants out weighed the negative reviews. They do lack belt loops; after a day of hiking the waist gets a little loose. I cut slits into the inside of my waistband and laced a drawstring through which seemed to help, but obviously is not ideal. They are very comfortable and easy to rock scramble in. I also really like the style and design with a lower rise than most long pants.

Very nice pants and exactly what I was looking for. I really liked them and would have kept them, except they were slightly too big at the waist and hips.
