Frigid weather can cause your fingers to scream cold, bloody murder during an expedition, unless of course you're wearing the Chawa Mitten. Warm to its Thermic-insulated core, this mitten flexes a waterproof breathable laminate to give snowsport professionals powerful protection from wet and windy winter weather. Pigsuede reinforcements on the fingers and thumb make this mitten even more attractive for alpinists with a history of really abusing their handwear.

  • Goatskin leather shell has a Q.Shield water-repellent coating that prevents water from soaking into the leather
  • Outdry technology uses a waterproof breathable membrane bonded directly to the shell fabric to keep your hand dry in extremely wet weather
  • OutDry also makes this mitten completely windproof
  • Thermic Micro insulation is a synthetic blend of fibers designed for ultimate warmth, loftiness, and durability, and a high level of packability
  • Kevlar stitches are set in a curved pattern that gives this mitten a fit that naturally matches the curve of your hand
  • Mitten durability is reinforced with goatskin leather on the fingers and palm, with additional pigsuede reinforcements on the fingers and thumb
  • Wool and polyester lining provides warmth and feels soft against your skin

Used it skiing on some single digit days and my hands stayed warm. Like most mittens I lacked dexterity but i could take my hands out n put them back in and the inside would still be nice in toasty. They are pretty tough n take a lot of abuse.

Unhappy with the Design for the Price

Bought these to replace some MEC gloves that just weren't warm enough. The mitten design gives you less dexterity but you stay way warmer!

I was really bummed to be buying 155$ for mittens and then have them arrive with no strings to attach to your coat or around your wrists. When you're skiing you're always having to take your mitts off because they're big and bulky and if you need any kind of dexterity there's no option. It's a huge pain to have to carefully hold on to them every time that you do that especially when you're on a chairlift and a lost mitt could mean an hour of searching. I ended up fashioning my own with string and hair ties but it looks super ghetto lol.

Also there's the special fabric to wipe your nose on in a pinch but the outer layer isn't removeable so they're a pain to wash!

When you're paying so much for mittens I expect more functionality. I haven't used them in anything before -20 yet but they've worked well for temperature up to that and they have a cool design on the outside.

Tough to size

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:Runs large

I bought these gloves just by the review on them. They are ok. Not too excited. I chose the size by the sizing tool on the website and they seem to be too large. Purchased a Mens medium and probably should have ordered a small. Otherwise the mittens seem to be ok.

This glove is fantastic. I had previously used the Stoic Welder Gauntlet, and it just didn't feel like enough glove for the price tag--they were thin, and the insulation felt inadequate for extremely cold environments. These gloves on the other hand are intense. My hands haven't gotten cold yet. The size feels good. My Stoics were size large and slightly too small. I got these ones in size large and they fit perfectly.
