The Mountain Hardwear Canyon Short will accompany you in high places and in low. An integrated webbing belt eliminates the need to pack a belt, and a moisture-shedding DWR finish signifies that this may be the beginning of a lasting and beautiful relationship. Store expedition swag in any of the pockets, and enjoy a full inseam gusset for mobility during tricky ascents or descents. If said descents take you into a river, mesh drain panels have you covered.

Bottom Line: In sickness and in health.

Great shorts

By:

I only have one pair and want to wear them EVERYDAY. Held up wonderfully on an extended backpacking trip. A little short on me (6'0" 155) but I'm not complaining. Have a nice fleece-like waist line on the inside which makes for a comfortable fit.

Not bad at all.

I own one pair of these, and I love them. I just wore them on a multiweek backpacking trip in New Mexico, and they held up beautifully. Not a single sign of wear, which is unreal if compared to the rest of my gear. Super light, quick drying, very comfortable. Will be looking to pick up another pair.

Mountain Hardwear Canyon Short - Men's

This is a super comfortable short. The brushed micro fleece lining in the waist sets these apart from other shorts on the market. The web belt also is a plus when you are wearing these day after day as your weight may fluctuate. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for a quality pair of shorts. I am 6'3" 215lbs and normally wear a 34-36" waist and went with the XL

True fit - MH tends to size things right on in my opinion.

these get the job done but have their cons

By:

These shorts tend to be on the longer side in terms of inseam length. They don't quite limit motion or flexibility but it is something that you can feel. The built in clasp/belt system seems to work but loosens up quickly and needs to be tightened frequently. The front pockets are incredibly shallow but the right thigh pocket is great for bulky items (built in clasp/hook for keys) and it zips shut. Overall they are ok and get the job done but there are more accommodating/more comfortable shorts out there.

sizing issues, no company support

MH must be catering to the growing waistline of the US. Own a dozen pairs of medium MH shorts. Recently received a pair of these for Fathers Day. Threw them in my bag for a trip without trying on. Put on while on the trail and they promptly fell to the ground. Oops. Mountain Hardwear says they are within spec, won't change them out. Beware of the sizing on these!!!! At least one size larger than previous MH shorts. Won't be buying anymore from MH due to this failed customer support. bummer.
