Purchase four of these shirt a while back based on past experience with MH clothing. My 6+ year-old MH shirts are going strong after hard use.
Two of the shirts are a darker brown (not currently shown). They are as good as my old shirts. However, the two khaki-colored shirts are garbage. Buttons falling off, fabric puckering up, labels peeling off, poor stitching, loose, hanging threads etc. Issues like this definitely make me pause before purchasing MH again.
I hate returning things due to the shipping costs and time it takes- I usually just don't buy that brand again.
Excellent for hot weather (but one thing you should know)
First, I've worn the shirt while climbing up and down sandstone cliffs here in Montana in 90+ degree heat (but in reasonably low humidity) and I've definitely worked up a sweat. The shirt functions as advertised - keeps you comfortable and reasonably cool. The only complaint I have (and this is not limited to Mountain Hardware), is that full synthetic button-downs such as this still, as a rule, have absolutely no odor control in the fabric. After 90 minutes of high activity in hot weather and this shirt already smells like the synthetics of days gone by. It can get nasty very quickly. For that reason, I do not do day hikes in this shirt (overnight *maybe* if I have a lake or stream to wash it in ASAP, but I'd rather hike in a Capilene 1 anyway). Rather, I use it in hot weather for shorter exercise sessions, fishing, climbing, disc golf, etc., where I can have it off and in the dirty clothes hamper quickly. What I have found is that a fabric with at least some cotton blended in (like the Patagonia Puckerware or Island Hopper) are much, much better at not developing offensive odors even after days of use - believe me, I tested them for 3 weeks in Thailand recently. And even if the fabric is approximately 1/3 cotton, the fabric will still easily dry overnight if washed in a sink, stream, etc. Hope this is helpful. (4 stars for the "stink" factor; otherwise 5 stars).
I like every thing about this shirt except for the button holes. A bit too tight. I like the more slim fit. I wear a lot of Columbia shirt to fish in and they are nice but just a bit too baggy. So this shirt is more streamline and does not look sloppy if you want to wear it out on the town or on the trail it will be sure not to disappoint.
Likes the jungle also
I spent half of March kicking around the western half of Costa Rica. I wore this shirt almost the entire time I was there. The back and pit vents let a breeze in right where you need it. I rinsed the shirt out when every an opportunity to shower arrived. It is an awesome shirt.
Nice shirt. The features are great but is a little short. I typically wear a large in about all the shirts i own however i had to return this one because it was way to short. (I'm 6'1'') If you are this height or taller i would recommend an XL or a different shirt.
This shirt is awesome in the heat, due to the vents in the side of the shirt. It's like no other shirt I own. Only thing is, I wish they made it in more colors
