True to Size. I got the 30s and I typically wear 31s for everything else and these fit snug but not tight. These shorts are for the slender at fit size or get the size up if you're not slender but on the fringe. It's definitely a contoured fit. Won't be needing a belt with these shorts. Great material and comfortable. It's light, and will dry quickly. These will feel like short shorts if you're used to looser, longer length shorts.

Darn, they are so close to being perfect but I guess Mountain Hardware shorts and pants tend to run smaller than TNF or Columbia shorts. I'll have to unfortunately return these unfortunately.

Well I may be a having to catch up a little to today's nomenclature but I can tall you that Mountain Hardware Canmore Short is a really fine piece of goods. I worked for several years back in the '80's in the Garment Center in New York City so after reading the specs above I am sure this material is comfortable and versatile and when we add today's perks like a cell phone pocket and cargo pockets, you just bought yourself a smart number as we used to say back then. Also, when men do buy a short, make sure your "look" conforms to your body style. That will determine among other factors

Love the semifitted cut and the cell pocket. You cannot go wrong with these shorts. The material is just right, not too short but comfy and with the required amount of flex. Think the quality is top, too.

I got these shorts and I like the style, but the fit was less than desireable for me. I tried a 32 and a 34 but the did not fit. They were to tight across the hips and just didn't sit well. But I did buy another 2 pairs of shorts by cloudveil and they ROCK. Fit perfect and feel AWESOME and stretch just right.

I bought 2 pairs of shorts, one from TNF and these Mountain Hardwear. The fit of the TNF fit as expected and if anything a bit loose, but very comfortable. Anyhow, these Mountain Hardwear shorts were so small I couldn't even pull them all they way up. My wife was rolling on the floor laughing as she saw how small these shorts were. I don't know if this size issue is specific to color or anything, but I bought the dirt color, in 32.

It's great that Backcountry has easy returns, but still a bummer to have to through the return process and pay for shipping.

I ordered these for my husband and he liked them. They are a great weight for summer and the style is perfect for hiking and then just tooling around. Some shorts were long for him and the short ones looked like golf shorts or something. These were just right.
