Yum, it's back: the deliciously soft Mountain Hardwear Women's Butter Topper Hooded Pullover. The silky, stretchy fabric makes this an irresistible choice during or after a hard day of outdoor play. It wicks away moisture, dries quickly, and stretches for unhindered mobility. It even has an antimicrobial finish to keep you feeling fresh all day. Flatlock seams eliminate chafing, and a low-profile hood hugs your head in softness. With thumb loops, this top layers easily and stays put during high action.

Sooooo soft!

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit:True to size
  • Size Bought: Large

Like it.... so much that on my way home from my first hike out with it, I ordered another (in black).
This thing is warm. Now it's not so warm you won't need a jacket but it's warm enough that I was able to hike it in with temps in the 40s with no jacket.

At the beginning of my day, the weather was nasty (rain, sleet, high winds) and this was under a TNF Venture Hybrid jacket. As the day wore on, and as we got up and over our last peak and headed toward lower elevations and out of the wind (& it stopped raining), I took off my jacket and hiked in this. It was comfortable and warm (temps in the 40s). I used the thumb cut-outs and it did keep my hands warm. On the peaks however, I did put gloves on and then used the thumb holes over the gloves. I'd like to test its warmth though on its own without the Mammut Go Warm tee under it before giving it 5 stars.
Fit is good, not too tight and moves with you. Material is so freakin' soft and comfortable, you put it on and it's like "oh yeah that's nice!" like a hug!
I ordered the Tippet color because it was the least expensive option. The color is extremely bright! Like bright yellow! I was thinking it would be more like the color of Ghost Lite jacket (color: fission), but that's more green and this is bright yellow, like the sun! You won't be missed on the trail!

Sooooo soft!

Great top, color wasn't what I expected

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I had great success with a butter topper from a few years back and thought to try out a new color. I've taken my original hiking in Zion and it's held up well through many washes. I tried out the pink which looked almost coral on my computer displays, but in person is more of a bright pink fuschia. It's a great top and if the color's what you're going for, you won't regret it.

Super soft super comfortable

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

Wore this shirt to transition from 60 degree temps to 106 degree temps.

Pros : It is super soft, the "butter" is no lie. The thumb holes are good sized, correct placement for me, not too loose or tight. Seems to wick nicely and doesn't stink. Smushes into a nice travel pillow. Hood is decent sized and shaped. Fit is okay, form hugging which is different from the slight hip flare in the pictures. Collar is very flattering.

Cons : sleeves (for me) are a teeny bit long. "Pullover" a little misleading, this is a shirt, not a true jacket or "pullover" in my mind. Layers okay over other clothes, can make a strange lumpy look if the base layer isn't quite right.

Recommendation : would buy it again, would recommed to a friend.

I love this shirt

I love this shirt - it is SO soft and comfortable, warm when you're cold, keeps you dry and comfortable when you're working. This shirt is so versatile, and I just want to wear it all the time. I've had it in green forever, and wear it so much that I finally caved and bought another color.
