Bazuka Glove

Designed for mountain professionals and those expecting a triple-digit season, the ultra-durable Mountain Hardwear Bazuka Glove insulates and protects your hands from the elements without compromising dexterity. Mountain Hardwear bonded a waterproof breathable OutDry membrane to the goatskin leather shell to stop moisture at first contact. Thermic Micro synthetic insulation beats back the harsh chill, and the polyester-wool blend lining wicks moisture on the hike. Mountain Hardwear also added foam padding in the knuckles and the back of the hand for protection during longs days of working on the mountain.

Bottom Line: Load up the Bazuka and bomb the mountain.

Incredible Gloves

By:
November 12, 2011

I have been searching for the perfect cold weather gloves for years. I have tried so many that I have gone a bit nutty on this. So far the out of production BC Stoic Inbounds gloves were the best I tried. I was able to test both, back to back today and the Bazuka were just as dexterius and a lot warmer. They were not so hot that your hands would sweat, but I would not use them above 35 degrees. Of course the Outdry waterproofing is amazing. Even for a leather glove, they did not soak up a bit of water. Incredible. I am going to be loving life this snowboard/splitboard season. Thanks MH!

Great glove but not worth 5 stars

By:

Ive been using these gloves for patrolling and the construction and dexterity are the pros of the Bazuka. The cons, I would be lying if I said my digits stayed warm on really cold days. Ive had to consider buying a glove liner for colder days, something I never had to think about using my older Patagonia gloves before they got swiped. They are little bulky on the cuff but a great glove overall.

No glove saver straps...?

By:
March 24, 2011

"Designed for mountain professionals"...says the description however there are no glove saver straps. I don't know how one can sell high end gloves without straps? Even if you're on-piste there are always plenty of opportunities to drop a glove. Apart from this fatal flaw the gloves are great...until one blows away off the lift when your taking a photo.

Mountain Hardwear Bazuka Glove Delivers

By: Backcountry.com Employee

I got the MHW Bazuka Gloves earlier this season, and I've been really impressed with their comfort, warmth and dexterity. From skiing to snowblowing the driveway, the Bazuka is quickly becoming my favorite glove. With OutDry waterproofing, goatskin leather and a very comfortable wool insulation layer, the Bazuka is great out of the box and has proven to be very durable without feeling bulky or overbuilt. The MHW Bazuka fits true to size.

Did you ever get a chance to compare these to the Hestra Army XCR gloves? I'm in the same situation and can't decide which to get.

I just recived them and I can not wait for the worst of weather to get here in Erie.

I did ALOT of reading to find a really good pair of gloves. I used to have a pair of North Face gloves. They were there best glove at that time. When I went to look at getting another pair of North Face gloves, I was so disapointed. Nothing they had was as well made as what I had. So I began my seach.

I was torn between The Bazukas and the Hestra Army goretex gloves.

I picked up the Bazukas on sale, that was the tie breaker.

The size is true. I wear a large glove and these fit perfactly. The build quality looks to be exceptional. They are soft, sturdy, comfortable. One look at these gloves and anyone will know that you are serious about keeping your hands warm and DRY.

These gloves look to be made by somone who spends a lot of time in the worst conditions out side. I may over think gear more than most. But when things get ugly, you need to be prepared. So as not to kill the fun you might be having.

Not worth the money, one big flaw

By:
February 28, 2011

Having bought a lot of Mountain Hardwear Gear in the past, I decided to go with gloves as well. I was looking for a glove that was going to keep my hands warm in cold conditions, since I'm tired of having cold hands with my cheap goretex gloves.

With a couple weeks of ski days use of these gloves under my belt, they really aren't as warm as I'd hoped. I'm typically in the Vancouver-Whistler area, with more mild temperatures, typically 0 to -10C, sometimes as low as -20C. However, the biggest flaw is that they don't cinch around your wrist like most gloves. Also, the cuffs are so big that it would be difficult to fit a ski jacket cuff over top. So whether I'm skiing in powder, shovelling snow for a tent-site, or just standing with my hands facing downards, snow gets into the glove. The snow then melts, gets my hands wet, and results in cold hands.

I was debating between the Black Diamond Guides and the Mountain Hardwear Bazukas, and I'm wishing I went with the BDs. Though perhaps MHW has other gloves that are warmer?
