If training for Fitz-Roy involves extended periods of time out in the wind, snow, and rain, then the Mountain Hardwear Men’s Axial Jacket, with its Gore-Tex Pro Shell and sleek alpine fit, should be on your back from one day to the next.

Ok, so I know these sizes aren't available here, but I'm 5'8", 145 lbs with about a 38in chest, and I can't decide between a Small and a Medium. Any thoughts? Thanks!
These are fitted really well, so you could go with a small if you wanted, but the back length is short, so if you're 5'8 with a long torso like me, then I'd recommend a medium.
I'm 6 foot 5 220 and trying to decide between an L or XL. Last time i tried a MH shell, the XL was way huge, but the L was pretty snug with a fleece layer underneath.

Just got this for an upcoming trip to New Zealand. Absolutely love this jacket. After trying it on the fit was spot on. 5'9 170 lbs 42in chest. I have broad shoulders so I ordered a large and its spot on. Over a tshirt it fits great and even with layers its still as good as it gets. Its pro-shell so you know its bomber. Great jacket.
It is hard to pass up this deal at this price...but all that is left is XL. I am 6'3" and 175. I would probably need a large but will I be swimming in a XL?
Thanks Ty! A little more clarification, the Axial Jacket is made utilizing a 40 Denier Gore Pro Shell Fabric. Unfortunately, Jason you are getting your textiles confused as there is no such thing as "gore-tex conduit softshell." The Pro Shell used in this piece is an extremely durable and extremely lightweight hardshell (17oz. for a large!) The Primo Jacket is a phenomenal Jacket as well but, not knowing the weight, my bet is that it will come in a little heavier with a few more bells and whistles and a little bit heavier due to a more burly fabric weight. Ty is this correct? If you are looking for a lightweight alpine jacket that could be used year around... check out the Axial Jacket. If you are looking for a heavier duty more snowsports specific piece... check out the Primo Jacket. I hope this info helps!
Sorry to chime in here on a Mtn Hardwear piece, just a little Primo Jacket clarification for Fall 11... for the first time in years Patagonia is working with Gore Tex again, and the Primo Jacket is in fact a nice heavy duty 3 layer Gore Performance shell. (The previous answer had the Primo Down Jacket in mind, which is waterproof Gore as well for Fall 11 with a Down lining) Look for both to be in stock in the coming weeks. The Mtn Hardwear Jacket here is a great piece too!
they are different jackets. Mountain Hardwear axial is a men's jacket with a gore-tex conduit softshell. The Patagonia Primo is a down filled women's jacket with a DWR coating on it. the Patagonia M10 is a men's nylon shell with Patagonia's proprietary H2No waterproof and breathable layer. in my experience, goretex breathes better and is more durable and flexible than the H2No barrier. both are waterproof. the primo only has a DWR coating making it merely water resistant. if you are looking for the entire package, as in rugged, waterproof and breathability, i would go with the Mountain Hardwear Axial.
