Whether you're bagging fourteeners or backpacking to your favorite lake in the Wind Rivers, The Women's Montrail Torre Backpacking Boot is in it for the long haul. The Torre Boot is burly yet comfortable to keep your journey free from foot pain. This Montrail boot's seam-free heel lining and molded foam heel pocket ensure a proper fit so you don't have to worry about sloppy-fitting boots when you're roping up on Wall Street. The heel yoke of the Torre hiker is attached to the lacing system so you can dial your boot's fit for the ascent or descent, and the waterproof Gore-Tex lining blocks moisture and breathes like mad to keep your feet comfortable and dry if you're crossing streams or hiking in hotter temperatures.
Bottom Line: The Montrail Torre GTX is built for people who want a lightweight boot that is not only extraordinarily comfortable, but worthy of a serious outdoors excursion.
All of the Montrail boots I have worn have fit my narrow heel perfectly except for these boots. I have tried everything to snug up my heel; superfeet inserts, thick socks, padding the heel of the boots, but I get serious blisters every single time very low on my heels. The toe box was great; lots of room for my toes so I don't bruise the toenails. I have finally given up and returned the boots simply because I cannot take the blisters anymore.
I purchased these boots for a weekend caving trip and I am so happy that I did! They were so comfortable that I wore them the entire weekend. They kept my feet warm and dry. I do have a slightly narrow foot and these boots fit like they were personally made for me. I wore them while rappelling, caving and hiking and I would recommend these boots for any type of outdoor activity.

I have an unusual foot and have been looking for a boot to fit since wearing out my old Vasque. I have a high instep, wide thick toe area and narrow heel. This boot was recommended to me by a hiker and I was excited after reading the reviews. Unfortunately, when I tried the boot, the strip by the ankle did not fit right, heel slipped too much, and the toe box while nice and wide, was not deep enough for my foot. I tried them around the house and could not keep them on for more than 1/2 hour before my feet were hurting too badly. They seem like nice boots, they just didn't fit/work for me. I have tried many boots on, and am considering barefoot hiking or giving it up on boots, as none are working out.
Write your comment here...I have the same shape foot and similiar problem with boots. I found Hi-Tecs fit me very well. You may want to take a look at their line of hikers.
I bought this books for my current job as a watershed coordinator in southern West Virginia. I hike through streams and up rugged terrian and this boots are the best. My feet do not get wet when trekking through small flowing streams. I first tested them while going on a black bear tracking event with the Division of Natural Resources. The snow was over a foot high and created a slipper terrain, but the boots kept my feet dry and had great stability. I would recommend these boots to anyone who is passionate about the outdoors and is an avid hiker or outdoorswoman.
After owning many hiking boots over the years, these are the best hands down. I bought these at REI for full price in late spring. The boot is confortable right out of the box. Forget having to break in boots with these! My feet are a bit wide at the ball of the foot with narrow heels, & the Montrail allows a lot of flexibility in lacing. Whether backpacking over granite & rocky trails in the upper elevations of the Sierras, slogging through snow in the Canadian Rockies or Washington State (snow in the middle of summer!), or hiking the alpine meadows of Glacier NP, these boots provide comfort from the solid Vibram sole, well-padded & thoughtfully comfortable interior, to the metal lace clips. The goretex works great. My feet stayed comfortable & dry in muggy heat, rain & hail storms, & muddy trails that had turned into streams.
from the moment I put these boots on they have been comfortable. Not one blister! I have to get used to the weight of them since I am used to wearing my running shoes hiking. Other than that absolutely no complaints!
i have funky feet... and most boots grind my heels into hamburger. these boots (so far) have not given me too much trouble in the way of rubbing.
i am an avid hiker, usually 10-12 miles (day hiking) with a <15 pound pack on an average hike.
i have a skinny heel and wide base-of-the-toe area. the boot is a little snug around the widest part, but fits great all over. i wear an 8 in new balance running shoes, and the 8 in this boot fits well.
the waterproofing is great. i have worn them caving several times, and my feet have been about the only dry thing left by the end of the day.
the laces come untied a little bit easily... but this i can deal with.
i haven't worn them on any hard core hiking trips, only <7 miles and not with a full pack of gear. but even after my longest hiking day, there was only a little bit of discomfort for my heels instead of the usual blisters.
overall, i give this boot a great rating! if you have trouble with boots like i do, i think you will like this boot.
I haven't fully tested these boots out yet, but I have worn them quite a bit. I like the look and the sturdiness. I have ankles that tend to move on their own and these boots help control that on unstable and stable surfaces. The waterproofing is great. It took a bit for them to get worn in there was some pressure on the toes but afterwards no problem at all with pressure. The short time that I've worn them in the field, they held up nicely to unstable fragmentary sharp rocks on a steep slope. Hopefully they will remain as comfortable and durable with longer trips in the field.
These boots are highly durable and waterproof. The Vibram sole keeps your feet happy after a long trek. They do fit very narrow. I have wider feet and had to finally give them away, which was a bummer because I think they are a very well made boot.
All of the Montrail boots I have worn have fit my narrow heel perfectly except for these boots. I have tried everything to snug up my heel; superfeet more...
