Features include a special high-stability design, gussets to seal out debris, and, of course, a waterproof breathable insert to keep your foot dry and comfortable in any weather.

  • Waterproof breathable bootie for all-season trail attacks
  • Gusseted tongue keeps rocks and debris from finding their way into the shoe while you run
  • Hydrophobic mesh construction to keep your foot cool and dry
  • Thermoplastic midfoot shank and forefoot Trail Shield add stability and underfoot protection on shaky terrain

I walk every day. Now it is snowing and need a good walking

I walk every day. Now it is snowing and need a good walking shoe. I love Montrails in the summer! they support me on my 5 mile racewalking. The arch support is awesome and the heel cushion support is great! My knees don't hurt when I use these shoes. I've tried alot of shoes and feel these are the best so far! I'm 48 years old and have been racewalking for 2 years and really would like to keep my back and knees for another 20 years! Now I'm snoshoeing and looking for another great shoe. Do you have any suggestions?

Laura. I would say check out any of Montrail's current OUTDRY models. All of the shoes are the same as their non-waterproof counterparts, fit and feel the same, and will keep the weather at bay! For you I would suggest either the Sabino Trails on this page if you need support of the OutDry Mountain Masochists if you need a little more flex in your shoe. I hope this info helps!

Great shoe, but runs small (IMO)

By:

This is a great shoe! It is plenty wide across the forefoot and has great arch support. It feels substantial and I think it will hold up well for shorter, less demanding hikes. However, that all said....I ordered the Size 10, and it felt a full size too small, in my opinion. I put the shoes on with a fairly thin pair of socks and wore them around the house, hoping that maybe I just needed to break them in. But no luck...I'm afraid they just won't stretch enough to risk keeping them and then be sorry later on when they hurt my feet. Unfortunately, they are out of Size 11, so will have to return these without a replacement! I rated these 4 stars, as they are perfect in every way. 5 stars if they would have fit, I think the sizing runs small. Keep that in mind when purchasing a pair--consider the socks you'll be wearing and whether or not you run to the high end of your size. I can wear a 10 or 11 depending on the shoe. Everyone is different so proceed accordingly and good luck!

very waterproof and still feels like a shoe

--These shoes are extremely waterproof. At one point, I was walking in a downpour, with rain pooling on the tops and my feet still stayed completely dry.
--unlike some waterpoof shoes, these still feel like athletic shoes in that they flex normally and breath great.
--The cushioning is thick, with gryptonite soles with excellent traction.
I really like the construction of Montrail shoes and have owned many pairs over the years. They are durable and continue to support the foot after many miles, even as they start to show some serious signs of wear.
This is an excellent shoe.
