Montrail designed this high mileage racer with a flexible forefoot to aggressively tackle any trail, road, or track that you can throw yourself at. Rigid support and durable mesh in the upper keep your feet stable and breathing on extra-long runs, and a four-density cushioned midsole maintains your comfort when the trail gets torturous. Gryptonite rubber soles use burly tread lugs to ensure long-lasting traction.

Out of the box these shoes were incredible. Great fit, great weight, and AMAZING on the trail. I couldn't get these things to slip, even on steep descents. The gryptonite grabs everything it touches. However, after just one or two hikes, THE LUGS STARTED FALLING OFF! I actually watched as the little yellow nobs on the bottom of the sole rolled down the trail next to me. I just read another review that said the same thing, so I'm saying don't buy.

Montrail discontinued this model, the shoe has too many flaws to list but makes a great everyday casual shoe.

Montrail Nitrus

I've been wearing my shoes for just about six months now and have enjoyed them - granted I'm more of an urban runner than mountain runner. They've held up just fine for me. Note that I will typically only run about 2 miles per session.
