The Montrail Mountain Mist XCR Trail Running Shoes eat mucky spring trails for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Gore-Tex XCR material provides killer breathability and waterproofing, so muddy, wet trails in stifling heat aren't a problem anymore with these shoes--in fact they look downright inviting. A molded heel cup locks you into the shoe for stability and control on sketchy trail surfaces. Because rocks are plentiful and often camouflaged, Montrail fitted the Mountain Mist with a rubber toe wrap and a rigid TPU protection plate. The simple question is, would your rather wallow in the puddles or conquer them with these shoes?

When I first tried on the shoes they were pressing uncomfortably on the outside of my ankle and I debated whether to return them. The sales person at my local running store suggested that I flex that portion of the shoe for a few minutes at home to attempt to break them in. It worked and I took them on a 10M trail run in the snow. It hasn't been cold/wet enough to wear them again, but so far so good.

These kicks are solid. I had to get a size .5 to 1 size larger than I usually wear. They're super comfortable and waterproof. Two thumbs up!
