Montrail Excelerace XCR Hiking Shoe - Womens - 2004 BCS

This is probably an okay shoe. It's very lightweight and has some support. Unfortunately, because of it's unique design, they don't work for a high volume foot. I have high insteps and arches and it was almost impossible for me to get the shoe on.

I love this boot/sneaker. Because of the design, the boot is tough to get on but found it ran true-to-size for me. I was initially disappointed that it wasn't totally waterproof (walking in wet grass); however, it is so comfortable, supportive and lightweight I don't want to take them off.

I was really looking forward to this shoe. Highly water resistant, snug fit, no leather, lightweight. Something that could be worn everyday and while hiking. Turns out, it wasn't what I expected. The big thing was the fit. I'm a true woman's 7 and this shoe had an awkward fit. A little small, a little narrow, and (the real big thing) the insole was so highly sculpted that my foot wasn't the right shape for it. It was highly water resistant and it held up on the trails. The sole wasn't as non-slip as I would have liked, but I could have over-looked that if it had just been more comfortable. Thanks to backcountry.com for taking my return even after it was worn. I'll buy my next shoe from them too.

These shoes are great for trails. I walk the trails in the San Gabriel Mountain. daily and wanted something lighter than my hiking boots but still grippy on the trail. These work for that and I like how the design is perfect for stabilizing ankles - I've had a few too many sprains. As for sizing, I got these 1/2 size larger than my shoes and there's plenty of room for my toes on the downhill and to accommodate orthotics.

They have felt great since the first time I wore them. They are durable & look good, and are made without leather. Yay! I love animals too much to eat them or wear them - now I can observe them without disturbing - with these shoes I can do serious hiking. And a bonus . . .the "no tongue" thing is great. No more sticks / rocks in my shoes! THANK YOU.
