Prepare yourself for frigid mountain conditions the next time you head into the backcountry with the MontBell Women\222s Ultralight Thermawrap Parka. Whether you\222re climbing, backpacking, or skiing, this puffy jacket draws a strict division between you and the bitter cold. Two hand-warmer pockets comfort your frozen digits after a long alpine pitch, and the adjustable hood and hem help seal out cold air and snow when you\222re on belay. When it\222s time to make some turns or tie into the sharp end, the Thermawrap stuffs into the included stuff sack for easy transport.

Bottom Line: An ultralight puffy for the frigid backcountry.

this is easily one of the best looking parkas on the market. the cuffs are amazing. i can't say enough about them. this jacket looks SO good on and they make the lightest jackets out there. if i had the money i would only buy montbell gear.

also wouldn't recommend the black...cus it can look like a shiny black trashbag...the orange is so rad as well as the red...both look good on and feel great.

Hip too tight!

By:
April 11, 2011

I am 5'1" and weight 100 lbs. I always wear size XS jackets and they all fit me well. I listened to the warning from other reviewers and ordered a size up and I think a size S should be fine for me. When I tried the jacket on; the bust area fit well, however, the hip area is really really tight and seams to tear apart at anytime. I measured the bottom of the jacket, it's a bit under 34" and my hip is round 35". I am really disapppointed about the fitting of this jacket. I would suggest you try to find you size in a store, try it on before you order one.

I love my UL thermawrap parka and my fiance loves hers just as much

By:
March 30, 2010

I got the mens, then got my fiance the same jacket! so warm! She is 5'8", 135 and the large "fits perfect" she says. I uploaded a picture of her flying a kite on mt hood while wearing the jacket. She loves it more than a down product simply because there are no worries about it getting wet.

Sweet picture! And great review. I was on the fence about the parka, but it seems like the best product for the $$.

Write your question here...how is the sizing? I am 5'2 - weigh about 105 - but have broad shoulders for my size- I would rather have a loose fit than too snug - small or medium? true sizes or skimpy sizes

I am a little taller (5'4") and a few pounds heavier than you and I wear a medium. If you want it to be a smidge loose- I would go for a medium. If you only want to wear it with a light layer, I would do a form fitting small. Montbell definitely runs small since they are Japanese. This is a fabulous jacket! Enjoy!

Perfect form AND function!

By:
February 10, 2011

I LOVE this jacket. I've been searching high and low for a super warm lightweight parka that still managed to be flattering to the female form. After trying the Patagonia down hoody and being very disappointed by its strangely rotund design and short length, I saw the stellar reviews here about Montbell's Thermawrap. It's no lie - this jacket is amazing. First of course, it is incredibly insulating for how light it is. And the fit, perfect. I always have issues with outerwear being too short in the sleeves and body. The Thermawrap however has a fantastic 'athletic' cut. Much nicer for those to want a long and lean fit. Being 5'8"/145lbs/broad shouldered I went for a large, and it fits perfectly. (I ordered the medium as well just to be sure, and while it did fit, it was just a bit more snug than I wanted). The large has enough room to layer underneath, without looking at all bulky. Total ease of movement, great length, feels like a super warm cloud. MontBell, you have won me over!

Great layer!

By:
December 15, 2008

I bought this layer for alpine rock and ice climbing, and it is just what I wanted. Can layer it over two light layers, yet it has a trim fit, so I can still put one or even two down layers over it! Also goes well under a softshell. Handwarmer pockets are super roomy. You will not find a lighter layer, and it is extremely warm, I end up bringing it everywhere since it stuffs down so small. I'm 5'2 and XS fit great, a bit tight on the armholes, but I have disproportionally big shoulders. And it is a cute cut :)

At 5'2'', I'm a fairly small person. Is this

At 5'2'', I'm a fairly small person. Is this jacket as big and bulky as other puffy jackets? The last thing I want is to look like a barrel walking down the street.

Warm and light

By:
December 9, 2008

This Jacket is the ultimate for winter. I live in a wetter climate so synthetic was the way to go and I love that it weighs next to nothing. I like the cut for a woman because its not girly but it fits well. The details at the sleeve and waist are very functional and the hood isn't cumbersome. The honey color is a great departure from all the black outerwear I have. Oh yeah I also have the down vest by mont-bell and it is the most functional piece I have.

Does it all!

By:
December 28, 2010

Buy it. This little guy does it all. Light, compact, fits well, VERY water resistant, unreal breathability and durability. I am 5'10/ 5"11" and went with the medium. Great mid layer or exterior for not so bad days. Hood is not big enough for a larger helmet but fits snugly without one. Classy for sledding too. So Go. Now. Do it. Buy it. Why are you still here. Go outside.

Light, warm and wind proof

By:
November 9, 2010

I was looking for a jacket good for 40-50 degrees w or w/o windy weather. This is perfect for my needs. Wore it in 48 degrees with 10-15 mph winds with a long sleeve tshirt underneath, and I was a little too warm. The jacket is very light, and durable with great wind protection. It runs small so, size up if you want extra room for layers. I'm 5'4, 130 with 34D chest, long arms, broad shoulders, short torse with long legs and straight figure other than the boobs. I opted for the men's version in medium as the small didn't give enough layer room. It was a little long in the arms, but rest was a perfect fit.

great purchase

By:
October 5, 2010

This is one of my favorite pieces of gear. I'm 5'1" and 100 lbs and the small fit perfectly with room for layers underneath. It is extremely warm, very light weight, and packs so small. It is just as warm as my down jacket. I love the hood, it's large enough to actually protect from the weather. Don't think twice, buy this item!

outstanding

By:
February 4, 2009

With slightly thicker insulation than its non-hooded counterpart the thermawrap jacket, this lightweight parka is amazing. I got it for my lady who is 5'5" and ~110lbs in a med due to its slightly small sizing. It is a bit heavier than its down cousin but adds a margin of safety in the chance of it getting wet. It weighs a scant 309g w/ its included 7g stuffsack on our digi. The construction is impeccable as are all the MB products that we have purchased. It has an adjustable hood, hem, and a triangle of stretch fabric at the cuffs, which all are very functional It is definitely not bomb-proof due to its lightweight nature though, so no bushwacking. Overall an outstanding parka.

Better than fleece

By:
December 16, 2008

This is my favorite layering piece on the planet. I wear it instead of my fleece 90% of the time. It is incredibly warm, warmer then fleece. It doesn't have the bulk of fleece so it is easier to pack and it is not restrictive in the arms like fleece. The outer shell is lightly water resistant. It weighs nothing and comes with its own stuff sack...it is always in my pack or on my back! Love it, love it! Trying out the pants next!
