It's like wearing a cloud

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size
  • Size Bought: Medium

Who doesn't love puffy pants? These do the job, nothing too special about them. Bought them for ice climbing in Nepal, never used them over there though (warm winter). The side zip can be confusing sometimes, as I found out on a -30 day climbing in Hyalite. Couldn't figure out how the goddamn zipper opened (top to bottom or bottom to top) and therefore couldn't get them on. I blame the cold ass weather though. Still good, still like wearing a cloud. Sized mine too big but that's fine because they're puffy pants.

What is the difference between these and the non-TEC ones? Apart from these being U$D 30 more!

Hey Nico,

There are a few differences between the two models.

First off, the material on the TEC is 15D Airlight ripstop ballistic nylon with 40D nylon taffeta for reinforcement. This means the overall durability is much greater.

Secondly, the TEC has full length side zips and two pockets to keep those hands nice and toasty!

But with extra features comes additional weight. The TEC weighs in at about 13.5 oz as opposed to the 6.5 oz weight of the regular down pants!

So... to use under my Oakley Beltline Pro Pants, the regular ones are a better choice, right? I'd have no use for the pockets and the extra durability... but the zippers may come in handy to take them off easily if it gets hot! I'll have to give it a thought, thanks a lot!
