Pull on the Montane Men’s Oryx Fleece Jacket and lighten your load when you climb, bike, hike, or run. This versatile midlayer weighs in at a scant 9oz and saves room in your pack for food and equipment rather than bulky outerwear. The Oryx wicks away moisture during a spring day on the crag and insulates when you layer it under a shell to catch first chair. Montane designed underarm breathing panels for the Oryx to increase ventilation and freedom of movement no matter what the activity.

Awesome layer

The Oryx is exactly what I'd been looking for in a lightweight fleece. I'm 5'10" 190lbs, so a larger build and wider shoulders, that said the large fits me perfectly. I have a full range of motion, yet it fits snug enough that I don't have loose fabric hanging off of me. The stitching is solid, and the styling is great. Fits easily under the Montane Halo Shell in large, plenty of room for a micro puff or other mid-layer.It's plenty warm for the size and breathes wonderfully. My only concern so far is that the lighter more breathable fabric sections (torso facing sides of the arms and the sides of the torso) seem to catch snags pretty easily. I've had to melt off a couple of runs. Overall it's a great base layer or light outer layer in late spring/early fall.

Sleek and lightweight

This makes a great layer because it is thin and breathes well, but I'm sending it back because I want more of an all-purpose fleece. I'm 6'0" and thin, and the arms are a good length but i wish it were a little longer in front. The back length is longer and fine. Since I am unlikely to wear this as an outer layer in cool weather I'm going to find something else.

Also, the black fleece has an embroidered montane logo just like the detail picture of the blue one. The picture of the black version shown above is not really accurate.

glad I didn't buy the overpriced northface

Seriously. This fleece is outstanding. I wore it almost daily for several months while trekking through south asia. Stitching is still intact! Fits great! Sleeves are longer so it works perfectly as an under-layer too. I'm a skinny guy, 5'9" 130 and this jacket fits great. I'll buy from Montane again.

Oryx

Although I work for Montane, we do pay for our products, and my Oryx is one of the best and coolest looking products I have ever bought (and no I did not design it!). It is a slim fitting, but really stretchy and techy looking Powerdry top, with a neat little ipod/compass chest pocket and lighter, high wicking fabric under the arms. I use it as a mid-layer for hiking in spring/autumn, or directly against my skin for running or rowing in the winter, with a Pertex shell over the top.

Oryx Fleece is very usefull

Fits long and lean, I'm 5'10"-165lbs and a large works well for me. It's very light and soft, can be worn alone. Full zip and other features make it more than just a lite weight fleece but also add to the price. I like it a lot.
