Zip up the Montane Women’s Liberty Fleece Jacket and find freedom to do more all year ‘round. This Polartec fleece wicks away moisture and dries quickly in warm weather and turns up the heat when the mercury drops. The Liberty breathes well so you won’t feel cold and clammy during an afternoon hike or when you bike around town. Midweight fleece feels soft against your skin and this Montane jacket’s tapered cut is designed specifically for women.

my new favorite fleece

If you like the athletic fit of Arc'teryx, you'll dig this jacket. I bought it because I like the color combo of lime and grey, and was totally surprised to find it fit me perfectly! I'm 5'11" and 135lbs., and jackets are never as long as I'd like - this one covers my butt in the back and doesn't let cold air in when I'm sitting.
This is a lightweight/mid-weight jacket, which is great for between-season or summer night use. My only request would be an interior pocket, but for the sale price I got it for, I'm very pleased.
As recommended by Backcountry, I did size up and am very happy I did. Usually I wear a medium in jackets, but went with a large this time. The arms are perfectly long enough (hits me at the main joint of my thumb), and the shoulders perfectly broad. I wear a size 6 or 8 pants, and the waist of this jacket was just right as well - not baggy, not tight. If you're short-torso-ed, the large may be too long for you, so consider yourself warned.
The fleece is soft and attractive to the eye. The green is nowhere near as vivid as the picture suggests - it's more of a spring-green. The pale lime green is flecked with grey, and I was happy it wasn't as "electric" as the picture seems to suggest. My boyfriend loves the look of this jacket on me, and I'm very pleased with this brand. Montane, I heart you.

nice fleece

I like this jacket. After reading that the sizing was off, I ordered a large. The sizing seems pretty acurate; I wish I had ordered a medium instead. Still, it's a nice fleece with soldi features. My favorite parts are the pockets which set just under the bust. If zipped open they can be used as ventilation.

Hi Kim,

This is a solid midweight fleece jacket and I think it would serve you well for 40-50 degree weather. I have two similar jackets and regularly wear them down to -10 with appropirate layers. A sweater of some sort may be required underneath depending on if you're naturally warm or cool. Note that this jacket is not windproof, so you'll need a shell of some sort to stay warm on blustery days. Hope that helps.

This jacket has a very nice fit - although I bought a Large when I typically wear a medium. I'm 5'8 and 140 lbs.

Great jacket. Don't order a size down if you like it snug.

Ok, so I love this jacket it looks better than the picture. I got it in black. Normally, I wear an XS in everything cause i am 5'6" and weigh 110-115 lbs ... HOWEVER, I looked at the reviews here and they were all saying to order a size up. I like things to fit snug but even so I ordered a size S instead of a XS and I am disappointed. I need to wear it skiing this week under ski jackets (so it has to be snug) and the small is loose on me (if i pin it in the back and on the bottom hip line i can pinch ~ 4 inches of fabric). I just placed my order for an XS. Sigh.

No complaints about this fleece - looks good, feels good, and is pretty warm. Very athletic-looking, runs a tad small but not too much.

Not so much

After reading the other reviews I figured this was the perfect fleece. Think again ladies!!! The other gals mentioned fit, but think again. I'm tall, so when someone said that they found the fleece to be long, they must be confused about their real height! It's almost long enough in the body... but way too wide (I bought a medium). I'm rather thin, and usually wear small, but wanted the extra room for layering. It's too much room. Additionally, the sleeves are WAY TOO SHORT. Probably two inches too short.

That being said, it really is a very nice fleece, lightweight, but still warm. I purchased the grey, and it's very nice to look at. I think this would be great if you were an "average" sized person. If you’re tall, long, or thin, you might want to try something else.

Just what I was looking for!

By:

I received my Montane Liberty Fleece Jacket today, I could not wait to open the package! The pockets are huuuge and they seem to double as side-vents, the fleece is super soft, and the steel colored side panels give the jacket a nice contoured shape and the ability to stretch. This fleece was exactly what I was looking for!

A couple comments for others thinking about purchasing:
- Backcountry was right on, this fleece does run smaaalll! I am 5'2'' (aprox 105 lbs) and normally wear an extra small top, regardless of whether the product "runs small". I'm so glad i decided to take Backcountry's advice and order a size up, as the extra small would have been wayyy too small!

- The green as backcountry pictures is not an accurate depiction of the true color of this fleece. In actuality "vivid green," is a soft, gray green. A bit disappointing (my only reason for giving this product 4 rather than 5 stars), as i was looking forward to my NINJA green fleece, but I'm still totally satisfied with my purchase!
