Enjoy the plush feel of planet-pleasing warmth when you wear the Montane Men’s Flux Insulated Jacket. This windproof, water-resistant jacket’s Primaloft ECO insulation consists of 50% recycled materials. The Flux gives you heat where you need it and less where you don’t with its zone-specific insulation. This Montane jacket doesn’t back down from wet weather, either—it keeps you warm even when wet and dries quickly. When the weather lightens up, the Flux packs down into one of the front zip pockets for your convenience.

Bottom Line: The Montane Flux is a constant when it comes to changing weather.
I'm very pleased with the Flux jacket. I compared many other jackets and decided on the flux because it best met my needs. I wanted an insulating layer that is thin enough to layer under my shell with out looking like the michilin man. Also, I tend to run warm so breathability was also a factor. The hood works well with and without my helmut. Walking around Mammoth at night with only two thin tee-shirt weight layers I was warm with temps in the low teens. The shell fabric seems much more durable that a number of other jackets that I looked at. I have the black and the fabric has more of a matte finish as opposed to glossy. I was on the fence with this jacket vs. the Prizm and mainly went with the Flux because of the extra warmth.Fit is always an issue for me. Partly because I usually am between sizes and I'm very particular. I bought the large and it fits just about exactly the way I thought it would, I'm 5'10" and 170lbs. My chest measure 41". The shoulders fit perfect as does the torso. My Icebreaker tee and Patagonia R .5 fit perfect and my Shell fits over everything. My only issues with the large was with length which I pretty much expected. There not a big deal maybe an inch in the sleeves and one or two at the waist. Both have excellent cinches so they adjust easily. Articulated elbows would be nice but i know I'm picky.Overall, considering fit, warmth, price etc. the Flux is a great jacket and I'm very happy with it. The people at backcountry were very helpful and a great resource for comparing jackets.

Hi question (particularly for Paul Cosgrove)I am undecided between a Montane Flux & a Montane Prism 2.0 jacket - which would anyone recommend as the better jacket to get? Thanks - newbies 1st post!!
Hi: I spent some time making the same comparison. The Flux is the warmer jacket. I was in the mountains with night time temperatures in the mid teens and was plenty warm walking around with the Flux and a Short sleeve tee and a thin long sleeve tee. I tend to be warm in general so you should consider your own cold resistance.
I ordered this hoodie all the way from England because, after an exhaustive search, it had most of the features I wanted. I have a 48 inch chest, so I ordered a mens XXL, thinking it would be plenty large. I usually wear an XL. It is made in China, like virtually everything seems to be now, and it is sized like it is meant for children, or pencils. I understand the idea of not having too much fabric around the lower half to seal out cold, but this is ridiculous. A person with a 48 inch chest does not have a 32 inch waist, but that is how the jacket is made. The arms are also very narrow. Don't plan to wear any significant layer under it. I admit that I don't go for the fad of tight fitting outdoor clothing. I dress for real cold. But, that is why I ordered an XXL. It is much more like a mens medium. Well made, great features, and a very nice hood. But, don't buy it unless have a very thin torso and arms.
Anyone know what the black looks like (shiny or subtle?). The blue in the consumer pic looks much darker than the washed out blue in the product pic. Much appreciated.
no shiny garbage bags here. Hood rolls up and velcros in the back, it will stay in place but doesnt look the coolest. I leave mine down most of the time. My hands are always warm in those pockets....i love this coat
Wow i got this coat for $200 something, if i had to do it all over again i would great coat warm and light. The cinch's are well placed and very practical
I normally wear a large and fill it out, so I was a little nervous to get a large in fears that it would ride up and I would be left exposed. The coat is form fitting but fits very well, never rides up and is thin enough to stay mobile. Great coat.
I work for Monatane and we've been developing Primaloft jackets for years now but I can honestly say this is our best 60g yet. I've used and abused the Flux in Scottish and Alpine winter conditions and it goes where I go. Awesome array of pockets, Pertex Microlight outer, a hood that'll go over a lid and its stuffs into its own pocket to make a neat pillow. I've found that often thicker synthetic jackets are built as belay jackets and are just too baggy. This is a neat fit that'll live comfortably under a shell when moving in stiff conditions. Windproof, warmer than fleece and fast drying its high on my kit list.
I am going to Alaska. I want a hard shell that will do everything in the worst kind of weather (rain, snow, storms, whatever). Is this a good jacket for that purpose?
