I would go with the small if you are just using it with a light baselayer or the medium if you plan to layer heavily underneath it.

Does the hood of this jacket roll up and stow away in the collar?

Yep, it rolls up and is secured by a velcro tie.

Montane for the win!

Ok so I needed a rain jacket and love Euro style fitment, so I decided to try out this great jacket!

First off I am 6'1 175 with a 41 inch chest. I have long arms and legs and am of a slender build. Most North American Jackets and shirts I wear a Medium, but with most Euro style cloths I wear a Large, and thats what I got for the size of this jacket.

It fits perfectly! and is large enough for me to wear an under-layer so I can use it in cold weather. Have used it in the 20's (f) with just a long sleeve tee and a wool button up shirt and was not cold at all!

It is super water proof as well, no complaints here! It also breaths very well, can be inside a store and not die from heat with it still fully zipped. It also packs down very small and is quite lite. Can't wait to take it on the trail and fully test it, but so far looks as though in colder weather this and my MontBell Exlight down will be enough to keep this guy warm and dry! And for late spring/summer/early fall this and a light wool shirt will be more than enough for my Northern Maine camping!

Would buy again no hesitation!

montane atomic runs small

Normally would have no problem wearing XL, but I couldn't get my arms in this thing. Fit like a leotard. I have a 48" chest and a 32" waist, so this thing should fit, especially if it is to be layered.
To add insult to injury, I have to pay to return it. Lost me as customer...sorry.

I meant 44" chest...no Schwarzenegger here.

Beautiful, fits small

I can't rate this gear's performance because the XL is too small for my husband who is 6'4" and 185 lb. It was small in the chest and somewhat too short in the arms. Styling was "fitted," and it would be a sweet jacket for warm, wet weather. Fabric feel, color and construction very nice - a stylin piece! Just not right for his needs, which are for a solid rain shell for spring alpine conditions, where underlayers would include a large sweater or puffy.

european love affair is right!

very breathable and incredibly lightweight. repels water great and high quality. very popular in scandinavia and very pricy over there too. get some great deals here at backcountry.com. it'd be way more over there.

Yeah you can look online at the prices over there and you'll see that Ryan is telling the truth about it being waaaay cheaper here.
