    Winter beware.

Montane has just released winter's worst nightmare, the Alpha Guide Insulated Jacket for Men. Feared by Jack Frost, this multipurpose winter item features the latest in fabric combinations: Pertex Microlight Stretch, a nylon mini-ripstop weave, blocks the entrance of wind and moisture while not inhibiting range of motion whatsoever. The hood, sleeves, and shoulders are composed of Mt. Thermo X Stretch, a polyester/spandex blend that dries quickly and extends the articulated arms during climbing without lifting the hem. Throughout the jacket lies the highly breathable and packable Polartec Alpha insulation, ideal for trapping heat without creating bulk. PEAQ synthetic lining provides an exceptionally comfortable texture against baselayers and skin and dries quicker than most other linings of the same quality. The Alpha Guide's active fit means expert tailoring in the arms and hood to maximize reach and flexibility during intense activity. Positioned clear of where a backpack or harness would lie, the fleece-lined handwarmer pockets take advantage of the jacket's Polartec insulation to keep your hands comfortable and warm. Low-profile thumbholes can be used to further warm the hands, creating a weather-proof barrier underneath gloves or mittens. Wear it as a mid-layer during the deep winter and an outer layer during highly aerobic activity; the Alpha Guide will keep wet and cold at bay so you can get back to enjoying yourself.

    Looks great, works great

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium

I love this piece, its been my go to insulation piece for all my ski tours this winter. The alpha does a great job of keeping you warm and dry. I wear a medium in pretty much everything and the montane medium fits me great, its designed to be a layering piece so it is cut a bit slimmer than some of their other pieces.

    This is awesome

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I love Arcteryx and I have to say I bought this because I had a credit and figured why not, its using the new Alpha insulation. This jacket is amazing. Its so comfortable and SO warm. Montane really makes an awesome jacket here. I got the Large since all UK brands run small. Love it.

I went skiing and took this jacket as my mid layer. Man oh man this polartec alpha is unreal. This was the first time I stayed dry and had zero sweat build up. it was 32 degrees and all I had was a base layer, alpha guide and a theta AR shell. It was perfect.
