Trout particularly love it when their dinner bathes in radioactive sewage, so tie Montana Fly Company's Chernobyl Ant to the end of your line and give them what they want. These four terrestrial flies are great when the fish are looking up and snacking on big bugs.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Definitely a nice summertime fly to have. Well made, affordable and easy to spot on the water. A solid fly to have up top while you trail a smaller nymph down low. Stock up on a few different sizes and colors to make sure you have all your bases covered.

    What is this?

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Hopper? Stone? Salmon? yes. I love using this fly as my summertime strike indicator. When nothing is hitting the surface and you have to nymph, might as well have an indicator with a hook. Always a nice surprise when you get an unexpected smash.
