    Pile on the heat.

The beauty of the Millet Women's Trilogy Primaloft Hooded Jacket is you can throw it on and climb hard without having to deal with a soggy pile of down and sweat once you get back to base camp. Its Primaloft Black insulation offers a great warmth to weight ratio and will retain insulating properties once it gets wet. The Pertex Endurance fabric is designed to repel wind and moisture and offer exceptional breathability all at the same time. The trilogy features an ergonomic fit that will layer comfortably under a shell jacket, or work well on its own. The hood is fully adjustable and helmet-compatible, and the cuffs and hem can be adjusted to dial in the perfect fit.

    Millet Trilogy: puffy Primaloft bliss

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

The Millet Trilogy Primaloft Hooded Jacket was the first Millet (pronounced Mee-ay) product I've ever owned. But it certainly won't be the last: here's why. Millet, though not as big in the US, it is a French brand who has been well known for climbing big mountains with great gear for a long time. In addition to their reputation for well designed climbing and mountaineering products, they are also very committed to making their products sustainably and protecting the environment, which is fantastic. Their products are either 40% recycled materials or 80% Bluesign certified! The final reason I'll buy another Millet product... I love the way this jacket feels and looks. And here's why:

Sizing -€“ This jacket fits me wonderfully. I am a bit over 5'9'' and about 140 lbs and the medium is the perfect size for me. The alpine fit means that it fits a little slimmer (still runs true to size) than many puffies, while still allowing plenty of freedom of movement. It also makes it easy to slip on any waterproof layer over the top. Also, I have a really long torso, and this jacket is just perfect on me, so I would say the jacket length is longer than average. I wouldn't size down for this reason though.

Color -€“ The color and design of this jacket are beautiful. The color is well represented by the website photos, a very attractive navy blue. There is a subtly different material used from the chest pocket up, which gives the coat a very sporty vibe. Also, the multicolored zipper is really fun. I've received multiple compliments on how unique this jacket is.

Construction - I haven't put this jacket through the wringer quite yet, but it feels like a very high quality, durable product. The stitching, seams, and detailing are all very well done. I expect this jacket to survive many-an-adventure.

Features - I am all about pockets, so I appreciate the healthily sized chest pocket on this jacket as well as the two waist pockets. I also really like the wrist cuffs, as they clamp down nicely to prevent your jacket from sliding up as you put on a waterproof layer on top or to keep cold/snow out on those extra chilly days. Also, the hood is helmet compatible, so its perfect for climbing/mountaineering.

I used this jacket as a comfortable belay puffy on a cold fall day climbing as well as a warm layer to throw on underneath my shell during lunch while hiking on a few rainy days. It packs down fairly small, so I definitely see myself taking it backcountry skiing and ice climbing this winter since it moves so well and keeps me nice and warm! Plus since this jacket is Primaloft, is handles a little moisture very well. It isn't the absolute lightest jacket (1.25lbs), but the weight is definitely worth the warmth and comfort.

I would definitely recommend the Trilogy Primaloft jacket to anyone looking for a great mid to warm puffy layer. This jacket looks great and has exceeded expectation performance-wise. Whether you're going car camping in the late fall or skiing a PNW volcano in the early spring, the Trilogy is a perfect choice to take with you.
