Tackle steep, snowy ridges, fat water ice, and technical mixed terrain with the Millet Men’s Radikal Pro Mountaineering Boot. This fully-waterproof, double-wall insulated boot is built for serious performance at altitude, and its phylon honeycomb construction, fleece lining, and Boa speed lacing system make for a warm, light, ass-kicking boot that will help you push your limits in alpine terrain. An integrated neoprene gaiter and stretchy PU storm flap keep out snow and debris, and the low-profile Vibram Teton sole handles rocky approaches like a champ.

Bottom Line: Get Radikal on technical alpine terrain.

Aaron, thanks for the reply. One of the reason's I am looking at this boot is because I have a tendon issue on my instep where most mountaineering boot lacing systems tighten down to provide heel lock. Does the Radikal have enough padding/insulation under the boa system to provide even cushioning and lace distribution? I have had to wear AT boots instead of mountaineering boots of late to mitigate this factor......and I have really narrow heels/high arch/ medium toe box. Thanks for any help on this!

dsilversto, I have these boots and I can say that in the thinner socks, I can feel the cable pressure on my instep very much once I cinch them all the way down, to the point of leaving bruises after just a couple hours of walking. The tongue is pretty thick but somehow it doesn't distribute the pressure all that evenly (either that, ot I have an abnormally bulging instep :)
Thick socks (the thickest I have, actually), however, mitigate this to a good extent.
And while on the subject of thick socks, I must also note that these boots feel noticeably narrower than other ones I have of the same size. My street shoe size is US 11, but I buy my boots in 11.5 to accomodate for the warm socks and size 11.5 Radikal Pros feel quite a bit smaller than my Salomon trekkers or winter boots (Salomon as well), but not *too small to wear* unless I put in thicker insoles.

So in short, you might wanna size up and wear some cushion inside these :)

The Radikal Pro is isothermal from -4° F to -13° F. These should be quite warm for you.

These boots are certainly designed for technical mountaineering at high altitudes. The only concern with altitudes over 6000m is the extreme cold; the Radikal Pro is isothermal from -4° F to -13° F. If you are trekking they should work great, if pushing for a summit; check out the Millet Everest GTX Boot. (Isothermal to -75° F)
