For difficult mixed pitches or light-and-fast alpine climbs, the Millet Men’s Premium Evo Softshell Jacket blocks light weather and provides maximum stretch. This hooded softshell features a hybrid construction of Polartec’s Power Shield Premium and Power Shield Light & Stretch for protection that doesn’t hinder athletic movement. Millet put polymer reinforcement patches on the shoulders to stand up to pack-strap abuse, and added Flex Comfort elbows to help you reach that next tool placement without pulling the jacket up. The hand and chest pockets can be accessed while wearing a harness, and the hem drawcord seals out cold air and snow.

Good jacket, some issues

The jacket is much better than average. Some issues however: 1) zipper gets stuck (caught) in the upper section near the neck, 2) the pockets are accessible from above your harness but they are positioned slightly to the back and can be difficult to open with gloves on. The jacket is a bit short which works well for ice climbing but not for general mountaineering. I'm assuming that the zipper problem is just a defect 'cause it's a quality zipper (water resistant from YKK).

Is this jacket good for winter/fall running in harsh conditions (down to -15°C / 5°F) with Polartec Power Stretch underlayer?

How would you compare this model to Arc'Teryx Gamma AR (except the hood thing and Velcro cuffs)? In terms of breathability/warmth only.

Definitely comparable to the Gamma, although it does have the hood and cuffs. Breathability is outstanding as is it's warmth. And it looks great on! Also, it had a much softer hand.

Super Softshell

Bought this for ice climbing. It works perfect for that. Like the hood. Fabric is super tough yet soft. Pockets positioned well. Also tried it for skiing. Remarkably warm and will keep you dry in a snowstorm. Construction is excellent. I love this jacket. I wear a large generally and this is Euro size XL which translates into US large. Fits perfect.
