Simply do it all, dry and warm.

Hike, climb, ski? How about all three? The super-versatile Millet Women's Monterosa Softshell Pant has all the essentials for cold, inclement weather protection in a highly breathable and stretchy package that is appropriate for any or all alpine activity. It's also devoid of superfluous bells and whistles that would weigh you down, so you can fly light and lean.

Element Shield Activ three-layer fabric shields you from wind and snow while allowing better mobility and breathability than hardshell fabrics so it won't hold you back during high-intensity activities. The microfleece lining adds a touch of coziness, and the semi-elastic waistband has a bit of give for comfortable movement. Boot gaiters keep snow out, and reinforced cuffs boost durability.

A big shout-out to and Millet for selecting me to review Monterosa pants. It’s my joy to contribute to BC community!

Since the temperatures have dropped and rain has turned into snow, I have been really enjoying testing these pants in beginning winter conditions. So far, it's been a blast! They are withstanding PNW wet/cold environment .

Size: 26 in waist, 36 in hips, 5 ft 2 in. I usually wear size 2 / XS pants. Millet Monterosa fit me perfectly in XS size. They are snug around my waist and butt and have just the right length to go over my boots without any extra material bunching up at the bottom. This might be an issue for someone who is tall.

Quality: Outstanding! Dry coating works great in moist conditions, perfect for a day out in the snow or rain. The material is thick with fleece cover on the inside which kept me warm in sub freezing conditions- no long underwear needed. Monterosa pants are super flexible which makes them great for a variety of activities from touring to ice climbing. Warm and durable softshell pants have some drawbacks- in my opinion they don’t fit '€˜lightweight'€™ category and they are pretty bulky when packed.

Style: Simplicity is the key: two side pockets, one pocket in the back and two bottom side zippers that increase the calf size to accommodate larger boots (like ski boots). These pants are pretty straightforward- all pockets are large enough to fit a cell-phone and extra, all zippers work without snagging.

I’ve been enjoying these pants while skiing in resorts as well as backcountry. I plan to try myself in ice climbing this season and I will definitely be bringing Monterosa plants for more testing. So far, I have no reason to doubt their performance. Big thanks to Millet for making great quality gear for a reasonable price!

edit: love these pants! unfortunately ended up with a broken leg while wearing them, so they got cut in the ER. Cant say much about durability, only got to wear them for 2 months but the fit and performance was phenomenal. I think I will get myself another pair next ski season.
