The harder the route, the skinnier the rope.

Millet's Magma TRX Climbing Rope is surprisingly strong for how slim it is, making it exceptional for trad climbing and multipitches. TriAxiale technology raises safety, longevity, and absolute efficiency, while a 9.5mm diameter enhances performance for belaying and climbing intense routes. Millet's Anti-Friction treatment increases abrasion-resistance against sharp edges and rough rocks. The middle marker makes for easy rappels, and the Anti-Twist Pack uncoils the rope without a problem.

    A true workhorse!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Over more than a year I've put the Magma through a ongoing- rough test. After a (long) summer rock-session in Colorado, I took the Magma with me to Ethiopia as my only rope for new-routing and climbing for 8 (!) months (with an average of 4 "working days" per week). During that time I had used the Magma solely (climbing ropes aren't available in Ethiopia) for everything from regular (lead) climbing through new-routing (hanging/ swinging/ bolting...), projecting (aka: repeated falls) and long beginners TR sessions (hanging...). All in harsh (typical Ethiopian) high-altitude, sunny, dry and extremely dusty conditions.
The Magma has proved itself as a tough workhorse. It hasn't loose its soft, easy to work with properties, while remained strong and in solid shape and even shape after repeated washes (tons of dust!).
I then took it with me to Jordan and put it into another 3-week intense session on my long-time Wadi Rum Project (ultra-abrasive sandstone!). This rope refuses to retire!
The Magma 9.5 is undoubtedly one of the best single ropes I've ever used and I highly recommend it !

Honest calculation on how many times I've fallen on this rope. One of the falls was an especially memorable one as a quickdraw snapped on me, the draw below that one I had skipped, and I ended up taking a 40-50 footer... If you're wondering why the draw snapped, it was because the long sling twisted and the nose of the biner torqued against the rock. I was fine though. Watch yourselves out there.

4 weekends in Rifle, 2 days of climbing per weekend, 2-3 burns a day on proj, 1-2 falls per burn (average). Equals: 30ish falls of at least 15 feet.

6 days on project in Boulder, 2-3 burns a day, 2-3 falls per burn, 30+ falls of at least 15 feet.

So around 60 lead whips on this rope and I have yet to chop it. It's durable and light and I dig the triaxiale technology. It works. Photo is from the Boulder project using the liquid hot magma rope
