I love this jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

this jacket not only looks wonderful it does a great job of doing what it needs to do -that is keeping me dry while not making me too sweaty when I'm working hard. I live in this jacket - commuting to work on my bike and bushwalking in the Australian Bush. The fabric feels amazing. the hood is great as it goes over my bike helmet or by pulling a draw string it fits well with out a helmet. The jacket is not terribly long but it covers my hips and top of bum without creating bulk (see pic). The fabric appears to be quite strong as I gave the jacket a good workout through very prickly hakea bush without any holes or rips.

I love this jacket

Short and thin

Cut is short and fabric feels cheap

Responded on

I think maybe the "cheap" you are feeling is actually due to the Goretex "active shell" being used on this jacket. It is decidedly thinner and lighter weight than other GTX jackets. Performance-wise it's outstanding and you're going to appreciate the lightweight feel of it once you get used to it. Durability will not be an issue.

Agreed about the cut -- I'm returning the jacket because it's too short. I have a rather long back but it only hit at high hip -- too short for the backcountry skiing I was planning to use it for. Other than that the fit was great (Medium, I'm 5'9", 150). Loved the pink accents and elongated cuffs, and regarding the fabric, it's actually top of the line, with innovative waterproof zippers. I wasn't concerned about the jacket's performance, I just didn't want snow getting all up in there when I take a tumble!
