Home wall with Hueco's in Yellow!
As you can see these take up space for sure! Great addition to home climbing wall... I freakin' love 'em!
As you can see my entire hand almost fits inside... HUGE HOLDS!
that shows the hueco's texture...
AWESOME ROOF JUGS!
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
These are necessary for ANY home climbing wall... They offer a nice jug rest when you need one, or can be rather challenging when placed on overhanging terrain.
I bought the Huecos (2 sets), and the blue ribbons (1 set).
You can match on both sets of holds easily, shake out for a quick rest, chalk up, etc.
Metolius offers the best of the best climbing holds for variety and though they tend to be slightly more expensive than their competitors, there's a reason for it; these holds rarely break or chip and have AMAZING texture. (In fact, at first you can expect to grind your climbing calluses down to nubbins, I assure you.)
Overall, I'm more than pleased with all my Metolius holds.
Thanks backcountry.com and Metolius for keeping me vertical and in great climbing shape when I can't make it outside! Training sessions have been more fun than ever thanks to these hold sets you carry online.
*PLEASE NOTE: the Hueco roof jugs have 3 slots each for additional screws to brace the hold, as they are extremely big and prone to shifting. The OTHER holds, blue ribbon and red DO NOT have screw spaces and are thus more liable to shift. Use caution when bouldering on other sets besides Hueco's and make sure screws are tight, but also not overtightened. Thank you!*
Can't miss, panic holds.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Huge, handle bar, "oh no I need something now," style holds. Easy enough to mount and install a couple solid roof jugs on your project. Small amount of flex when cranking on them, so I wouldn't start getting all dyno happy and expecting everything to go fine forever. One screw in the flexing end would make this problem disappear I believe, but they do not come manufactured that way.... yet. OSB and Plywood seem to hold up fine. I tested OSB vs Plywood and found the rip out potential to actually be higher in common Plywood vs common OSB. Hope this helps future wall building nuts.
I got the blue ribbon set and they are exactly as pictured. They have a great feet to them and are working great on the ceiling of my home bouldering wall. Can easily match on the top one and can barely squeeze two hands in the bottom one. They are a good size and well worth the money I am very happy with them. They came with a t nut washer and bolt each.
