Howdy David,

Is shipping available to Malaysia ??

While metolius products can be shipped internationally, backcountry.com does not currently list Malaysia as one of the countries they ship to. I would give them a call or an email and see if they can do anything. I recently chatted with them, and the staff is super helpful and courteous. I'm sure if there is any way they can help you, they will. Have fun climbing out there!

Awesome for ice climbers too!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used it to improve my contact strength for gym climbing, but have found that it's great with ice tools - I use the deep two-finger pockets for my picks and can do squat-stand exercises or even pull ups on my tools.

When Price or Space are the key factors

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I would like to have something fresh or original to add to the chorus of reviews but it seems like others share the same criteria for their training purchases. Yes, this Project board is compact and offers a variety holds, so whether this collects climbing chalk or dust is up to you. I have been using this in conjunction with other holds at home several days a week for a couple months and I've improved 2 grades bouldering and from 5.8/9 to 5.10+/11- (top rope/lead) rope climbing in the gym in those two months. If you are willing to get a few calluses and achy muscles then your climbing will certainly improve with this board. There are various exercises that are thoroughly explained in the included instructions flier and there are no shortage of routines easily found online. This product will certainly deliver variety, not take up much space for a really sensible price, and the hardware (screws) is included.

staying nimble..

Good, straight-forward project board. Its size makes it easy to put almost anywhere in my apartment.

up your game!

Can't make it to the climbing gym 5 days a week but still want to train? this thing is great for home use. The gym I work at has the larger version but that thing is way to big for my room, I love this size though. It doesn't have as many spaces but for home work outs it will do the job. No more excuses why you aren't making progress every day, or sending that project you have been working on for way too long. Climb hard, train harder!

Don't do like me, basically i'm only using 7 of the 8 screw holes b/c the vent is in the way. It's pretty sturdy, the one downside is there is an edge behind my far left sloper.

Awesome and convenient

I just put my project board up in my apartment and there is no way the 3D training board would have fit. I's also pretty much all I'll ever need, there are 2 different sloper holds on the top. It would have been pretty easy to install if I hadn't been using a drill from the 80's. I'm for sure going to have this hanging above my door in all my future homes.

Great, Inexpensive Hangboard

While this isn't as good as the Metolius 3D Project Board, I was impressed by the amount of options that you have with this board as well as how easy it is to put up. I would buy this board again over the 3D, especially due to its compact-ness. Nonetheless, if you have the space, and the cash, you should get the 3D.

Nice training board.

Room saving and cute :)
If not screwing it directly to the wall it's a bit tricky to install but it's worth it!
Below is a good workout with this board

Good luck!

Woo!

Just what I expected. Easy installation, I like the fact that it tears my fingers up. It gets me ready for outdoor climbing. I even love the color, really ties the room together.

Is it possible to mount this on a door...

Is it possible to mount this on a door mounted pull up bar? I live in an apartment where we aren't allowed to drill into the walls

Responded on

Sweet, looks like you found a way. What did you use to attach it to the bar?

Responded on

It looks like you used hooks to attach to the bar, but doesn't that cause a lot of swing? you could run a 1X6 on the back of your hangboard, the exterior width of your door so it hits your door frame and prevents swing. kinda late, sorry, but it's an idea.

I love this thing!

This is a great product! Helps me to still get a workout on those days where I can't make it to the gym or the crag. I mounted mine on a fatty cross beam in my house instead of over a door, so I didn't have to use a plywood backing and it is solid as heck. If you are mounting it over a door frame I would follow the instructions and throw a board behind it.

I love this thing!

Great workout!

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love my hangboard. It is a great full body workout since you can do so many things with it. It has a nice range of handholds with jugs, slopers, crimps and pockets. My only complaint would be that there isn't really a great pinch hold. But either way I am very happy with this purchase.

Great Board

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Mounted next to/part of my indoor home climbing wall. It's great being able to do training board workouts then move right into a few different techniques on my wall. It's heavy and feels super bomber when hanging on. I have concrete walls so I had to mount my backboard on 2x4s to move them away from the wall so the mounting screws for the training board didn't bottom out on the wall. I would have done that anyway though because I added t-nuts to the mounting board so I can put some other jugs and crimpers on it next to my training board and do even more workouts on those.

Perfect

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I don't think anyone could find anything wrong with this product. With that said, if you're installing it yourself, make sure it's securely anchored. Order this, go to Home Depot and buy scrap plywood, then mount.

The best position to mount the hangboard is OPPOSITE of the door. Like the picture below, the door is on the same side of the hangboard, and reduces the amount of space you have

Good training board

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Good training board; easy to install, fair amount of holds, and decently priced. I've been using it for a few months now and haven't noticed any problems with it. Only giving it four stars because nothing about it really puts it above any other boards I've seen.

Great purchase

I was getting really frustrated with my strength giving up on a day of climbing quicker than my stamina. This board has significantly improved my finger and grip strength. Also the jugs at the top are much more comfortable for doing pulls ups than a bar at the gym.
