The Metolius El Cap Durathane Haul Bag is the pig you've been looking for to carry the gear up your next grade VI wall. The massive 9600cu in. bag has RF welded seams and a comfortable suspension system that tucks away in seconds to give it a nice clean profile for hauling so it doesn't snag on every flake it comes across. The river bag style closure will keep the weather out of the inside where you'll find three gear loops and a zippered pocket for smaller items. On the bottom is a drain hole for any spilled water and a full strength haul point for bringing along other piglets. This will be your favorite piece of gear for your next week on the wall.

This haul-bag should have suffiecient padding. It is designed to carry porta-ledges, climbing racks. and should be able to handle a highlining rig

Ditto of YeahBro's review above. One tip, if you have a long approach (aka halfdome), you may want to add a beefier hip belt(can buy generic hipbelts at REI)

You could use it - but it really wouldn't be very comfortable. This is designed more to be used as a haul bag, pulling gear up a rock face with a rope and pulley system than to be used as a backpack.

Huge. Burly. Waterproof. If you're looking to do a grade VI route, do yourself a favor and invest in this giant. It's not the cheapest haul bag on the market, but the durability and design are well worth the extra cash. The little features like the dry bag closure, the interior gear loops, and the offset clip in loops just seal the deal.
