Leave the cams for the low lands and rack up with the Metolius Curve Hex Alpine Set for big alpine routes.

The Metolius Curve Hex Alpine Set includes the five most useful sizes of these lightweight, tough pieces of protection. Face it: cams are heavy, expensive, and don't work in icy cracks, so why not supplement your rack with these versatile Hexes. Even if you have to leave the whole rack on descent it still costs about the same as one cam. Metolius added Dyneema slings to these five sizes of Curve Hexes to reduce rope drag on wandering pitches and preserve slings on your tiny gear rack.

It seems that the regular curve hexes match the Metolius cam colors but not these.

Great passive gear!

These are cool. Very simple and easy to use. Much more affordable than cams. The larger sizes are little heavy, but bomber when placed.

Quality set of Hexes

These are the only hexes that I have ever placed. that being said, I really like them and place at least one of them on almost every climb that I lead. They fit in places that cam don't and can work around knobs and irregularities because of the curved shape. When I place these I feel really secure and love seeing them in action. Great investment.
I would like to try out the new DMM Torques too.

This Hex set is great! The curved body of these Hex's place well and hold fast. The extra sling makes the placements easier to clip and extend. i just wish they put slings on the other sizes. i'd recomend these for a rack starter if you can't afford a cam package.

Nice hexes

I've climbed on a few styles of hexes and these are my favorite. The curved head shape makes for better placements, and better opportunity to set them in a passive cam position (as opposed to the straight-sided BD hexes). The wire is a bit of a trade off over a hex that's completely on a sling (like a wild country) since it can get in the way a bit while you're trying to maneuver it into a delicate location. You can usually work around this though, and having the stiffness of the wire makes it easer to slot it in a deeper crack that you can't fully get your hand in. All around, great in my opinion.

These work well.

This is a nice set of hexes in the larger size range. The sewn runners provide a nice touch too. The curved sides and asymmetric geometry give you several placement options, and make it easier to find a way to fit the hex in around an obstruction.
