In the past, choosing a helmet often came down to a series of dichotomous choices: aerodynamics or ventilation, speed or comfort. Nowadays, options such as the MET Estro Helmet let you choose All of the Above. Featuring large vents and a streamlined design, this helmet is simultaneously fast and cool.
To achieve this, MET didn't just aimlessly add air ports into the Estro's design. Instead, it developed a protocol that measures a helmet's performance in terms of ventilation called Air Scale. Simply put, it measures two essential parameters: the Head Contact Surface (HCS) and Cooling Factor (CF). The HSC indicates, with a percentage, how much of the head is in contact with the helmet. This lets MET design the Estro so HCS is at a minimum—in this case 65%. This reduced contact also helps the Estro decrease heat buildup and gives it a CF of 7.5 out of 10.
A Safe-T Smart retention system holds the Estro snugly in place using a micro retention system that features both horizontal and vertical adjustment. This easy-to-adjust system distributes pressure across a broader surface than other retention systems to further increase comfort. Inside, MET's Cocoon system of internal padding offers a soft and protective layer against your skin.

- Q & A
A solid mid-level helmet
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Large
This is a decent, serviceable helmet - nothing flashy, but good functionality and fit. Pretty light yet feels sturdy. The adjustable straps work well, but the plastic clip can get too near the earlobe if not positioned right. Like most helmets I've owned, the rear strap still manages to get twisted and I wish it stayed flush against the side of my head. Otherwise happy with it.
