Waterpro Maipo Water Shoe - Women's

Wearing wet shoes while you're canyoneering is miserable, but not having foot protection in rivers is just as bad. The Merrell Women's Waterpro Maipo Water Shoes have drainage ports, supportive footframes, and grippy Vibram soles. Water drains via ports in the mesh uppers and in the antimircrobial footbeds so the Waterpro Maipo Shoes won't remain water-logged once you reach dry land. Dynamic lacing and supportive leather strapping provide support both in and out of the river. Merrell's women's-specific Q-Form stride alignment uses firm zones and cushioning to increase torsional support.

Bottom Line: Grippy in the water, quick-draining and supportive on land.

Best Shoes!

First I have to truly commend Backcountry for excellent customer service! As for the shoes - I love Merrells and have a few pairs, but these are by far the most comfortable and versatile. I bought them as "water shoes" to use canoeing, walking through rivers, light hiking, etc. I brought them with me for our vacation in the PNW and used them for both light hiking and walking in the city. They are very light and cool-perfect for summer. I haven't used them in the water yet, but I am certain they will be great. My husband also bought a pair and they have quickly become the only shoes he is wearing. For rougher terrain, you may want to use a heavier treaded shoe, since this is more of a light hike/water shoe. I found the shoe to be true to size.

It's best to start up a gear chat to see, as they can check and get back to you a lot faster than on here.

Nice water shoe.

These shoes were my "go-to" shoes on a longer trip. They dried quicker than the other pair that I brought along, and they kept more debris out. There was some sand that snuck into the shoes, but not too bad. Mild heel chafing, but not enough to cause blisters. These shoes are extremely light too. A very good buy--especially since I found them on sale.

I need a sneaker that fits a wider foot. The Saloman brand was too narrow. Do these happen to run wider than those.

Lorna,Both of the Merrell and Salomon water shoes are "medium" width. With that being Salomon Tech amphibians run narrower and the Merrell sandals will run B/C. I would recommend trying shoe if you are looking for a water shoe. This would not be my recommendation for an everyday sneaker, though some do use it for that. How about the Asics Gel Kayano? It doesn't blend in as well, but it is very comfortable and comes in widths http://www.asicsamerica.com/products/product.aspx?PRODUCT_ID=240010484&TITLE_CATEGORY_ID=250001549&PARENT_CATEGORY_ID=250001547 .Hope that gets you in the right direction.Mahalo, Sumo
