Great water shoe!
bought these for a 8 day trip to the Quetico. worked really well very comfy on all the portages and they dry quick which is really nice after spending most of the day with wet feet!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
I work as a professional river guide in the summer and have used a pair of these for the past four years. I used these shoes for everything from commercial rafting, to hiking, to canyoneering and more. Very reliable shoe which protects your feet well and stands up to abuse. It took four river seasons for mine to break while every other river shoe I owned lasted me less than a season. Combine with a pair of neoprene socks and your ready for cold water.

I have had these shoes now for 3 years and i use them for EVERYTHING. Construction, everyday use, lifting weights, camp shoe for after hiking, Canoe upriver that required a lot of getting out, everything. If they ever get to dirt just rinse off with water, not to mention the color (mine is grey w/ orange) makes it look like they are never really dirty. I never used the omi-fit lace system, I normally just slip mine on and off (frequently without socks and I haven't had a problem with smell!) They are amazing! if you like the way they look and feel you're going to love how long they will last.
Kick Ass Water Shoe
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
These things fit better than my regular sneakers! I have had these for over a month and have worn them on a couple trips so far and no complaints. I already owned a pair of Merrell Hiking Boots so I had a hunch that the sizing would be similar to these as I normally hate buying shoes online, but between the two types the fit was consistent. I should've bought 2 pair as I believe Merrell are discontinuing these :(
Merrell Water Pro Manistee Shoe - Men's
good shoes, no slippage problems, they breath well. I had a problem with the manufacturing of the left shoe the first week i got them, i called back country and they emailed me a ups shipping ticket, i dropped it off at a UPS drop off store, I called back country the next day and they sent the new shoes out that day, I had a new pair by the end of the week, Also the shoes went on sale so I got a $20 credit, and the shoes did not fit quite right so they changed the size with no hassle . I have a pair of merrell trail gloves that i based the sizing on and the manistee needed to be a 1/2 size smaller for me
Good water shoes
good (not great) grip on wet rocks
After a 9 mile trip the tops of my little toes were red and raw from rubbing against the mesh above the toebox. Maybe my foot is just oddly shaped.

How do these do for traction on rock in a river. Considering these for an overnight trip through The Narrows in Zion National Park
They grip decently on wet rocks, but wet rocks with moss on them will make you slip.
