I owned a pair of Merrell watershoes for the past 3 years and replaced my old ones with these. Two months into the new pair, the sole is falling apart. The circles on the tread are breaking and falling off... not what I would expect from Merrell. Well, Backcountry.com will not take them back, which sucks. Luckily Merrell looks as if they will replace them. THIS IS A HUGE REASON TO PURCHASE ALL OF YOUR SHOES FROM REI. They take any product back for any reasons anytime... no questions asked. Won't make the mistake of buying from Backcountry.com again.

We have an unlimited return policy here at Backcountry. We will indeed take these shoes back for exchange or refund at any time after you purchase. REI does not have the same policy.

Pros:
lightweight
good (not great) grip on wet rocks
dry quickly

Cons:
After a 9 mile trip the tops of my little toes were red and raw from rubbing against the mesh above the toebox. Maybe my foot is just oddly shaped.

How do these do for traction on rock in a river. Considering these for an overnight trip through The Narrows in Zion National Park

They grip decently on wet rocks, but wet rocks with moss on them will make you slip.

these are simply the best water shoe i have ever owned. i use these for wet fly fishing days. comfy for 8- 12 hour days fishing. great to use with neo sox or no sox. very comfy with no sox. great grip in rivers. look awesome built very well three years old and are holding strong. these are great summer shoes. they dry very fast. they are super light weight too. perfect for trail hiking. in or out of water these are the greatest merrells i have ever owned.
