    Always love me some Merrell!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 8

These were super nice to break in, maybe a day or 2 just walking around town and then it was off into the real world with them and they held up like a champ! Perfect for warmer hiking, my feet never got overly warm and they didn't blister or anything! Love these shoes. As always, true to size for me!

    Good in moderation

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I bought these for summer activities: hiking, disc golf, etc. They are light weight, breathable, and have good traction in soggy situations. They are perfect for easy to medium level activities, but I don't think I would want to hike more than several miles in these. They have kept my feet dry in muddy conditions, but I have not used them in puddles or wet grass. They are a little stiff on top where the laces are, but I wouldn't call them uncomfortable. I hope they will break in a little more. They are good for over-pronators (like myself), and I have no knee or back pain after being on my feet all day long like my last pair of running shoes gave me. They are definitely attractive looking, I've received many compliments. I wouldn't recommend them for extreme circumstances, but they definitely get me through the day in comfort.

I normally wear a size 7 in sandals, vans, converse, etc, but with these, a 7.5 was a must.

    Definitely not waterproof

I purchased these shoes for field work in rough terrain and specifically wanted shoes that were waterproof. The first time I wore them in dew-covered grass, my feet were soaked through to the socks. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. Since I was in the middle of the field season (I'm a biologist), I didn't have time to return them and simply kept using them. These shoes also wore out more quickly than similar shoes from other leading brands (I have had Keens last multiple years, but these wore out after about 4 months of solid use).

Another problem I had with these shoes is that they have a broad sole without much ankle support. I have rolled my ankles while wearing them a few times, one time resulting in a bad ankle sprain. All around, I was extremely disappointed in this product and would never recommend them to anyone.

Not a perfect shoe, still a good option

I read the reviews and therefore had some idea of what to expect when the shoes arrived. I did have to return the first pair, as they were a little tight and felt too short for my foot, unusual, because generally if there's a problem it's with the width. I ordered a half-size up, and with a slightly more cushioned sock, they fit fine.

The shoes are very attractive and seem to have a very solid construction. They do not have a great deal of flexibility, but this rather feels like an advantage when walking up steep, rocky areas where my foot is not always well-supported. For me, this a walk to the mailbox. Also, the lack of flexibility at the sole is well offset by freedom at the ankle. I have worn the shoes for nursing shifts and found them comfortable. This is my go-to test, as any shoe that can stand up to 13 hours of nursing will not be likely to cause me pain on the trail. The fabric was a bit stiff at first but that seems to be working itself out. The waterproofing has performed very well, without fail. Overall, I recommend the shoe.

Too stiff, little give - must return

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size

I have an older pair of Siren Sport 2s that I love and was hoping that this waterproof pair with a more desirable color scheme would be the perfect replacement. Unfortunately, probably because of the waterproofing aspect, the shoes are very stiff and have almost no give, with my heel sliding in and out of the shoe as I walk. These are going back and I'll probably exchange for a pair without the waterproofing, hoping they feel just like my old ones.

    New Favorite Shoe!

I'm usually a pretty true to size person around a 9.5 in shoes but the 10 worked perfect with these. Especially with a thick sock for hiking or in the winter. These are so comfy, a little stiff but sturdy on the trail. Love these!!

Are you sure this is GORE-TEX? I do not...

Are you sure this is GORE-TEX? I do not see the GORE-TEX label anywhere on the shoe. The "waterproof" label does not necessarily mean that it is GORE-TEX.
