Your ticket to the trails.
The Merrell Women's Salida Hiking Shoe is your way out of town to the fresh air and vistas of your favorite trails. In warm weather or cool, this rugged hiker offers breathable comfort along with the support and durability you need on rocky, uneven terrain. Merrell knows you'll be working hard out there (although it hardly seems like work), so it gave the Salida breathable mesh lining and an M-Select Fresh odor-fighting treatment that keeps the shoe socially acceptable after a long day's trek. And should bits of the trail try to work their way into the shoe, they'll be foiled by the bellows tongue.
Under the cushy removable EVA footbed, you'll find a balanced combination of support and shock absorption. The molded nylon shank supports your arch and limits torsional flex when you're rock-hopping, while the Air Cushion in the heel smooths out bumps in the road. Finally, the aggressive M-Select Grip outsole with hefty 5mm multi-directional lugs delivers durability and traction wherever and whenever you need it.

Best shoes I've ever hiked in
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
I was hesitant to buy hiking shoes and wear them straight out of the box, but I cannot praise these shoes enough. I instantly put them on and felt comfort. The next day I left to backpack a hard core hike for four days. I brought these shoes straight out of the box and hiked 2,000 feet in elevation (10,000-12,000 feet), up mountains, through creeks, and with a 30 + pound pack. Never once did my feet feel uncomfortable. They stayed dry while crossing rushing creeks, and held my weight downhill and up on rocky surfaces. I never got a blister. On night two I left these shoes in my tent vestibule. It was terribly stormy. I woke up under 3 inches of water and in a flooded meadow. My shoes were floating on three inches of water, 100% dry. I could only laugh. These honestly are the best shoes I have ever purchased and I thank backcountry for helping me decide on them and recommending them. I couldnt have been happier, or my feet can't thank you enough. Looking forward to many more hikes, adventures, and treks.
Also- I wear size 7 and purchased size 7.5 Always buy 1/2 size larger when hiking.
