Sturdy Hiking Platform

I have a pair of Refuge Mids that I wore all winter. They were a real great boot for my hiking/walking. I wanted a pair of Refuge shoes for the summer. The Refuge Ventilators provides the same great platform that the Mids provided. They are great for the summer and shoulder seasons. Light and well ventilated. I find the Refuge last a great platform for trail hiking or walking.

    Merrell Refuge Core Ventilator

Just breaking in my first pair of Merrell hiking shoes after mostly wearing Vasque and Montrail for the last decade or so. Good performance for day hikes, with a sturdy vibram sole and mesh ventilation. So far the shoe has been very comfortable, with no hot spots. I wear them all over, from hiking and climbing, and even to the office. The quality seems good, with stitching that can handle scree and talus.

      Merrell Refuge Core

Light weight and extremely well ventilated shoe. Perfect for day hikes that require you to pick up the pace and double time down the mountain. Great for when you need to scree down a mountain or climb at a fast pace. I do not recommend the refuge for extended hikes or climbs but it does work great as a light trail running shoe. There is not much arch support or room for movement, but the Ortholite anotomical footbed does add extreme comfort and cuts down on soreness and blisters. There is great traction at the toe that gives an additional push with every step. I highly recommend this shoe for anyone who wants to move fast and light.
