This is my second pair of these shoes, which I use as short-distance jogging shoes, around-town shoes, and backpacking shoes. I've worn them with the heel up or with the heel folded down as slip-ons, and they're comfortable both ways. The top fabric is very porous so while your feet will get wet the shoes are also very easy to rinse out and dry.

I bought these a year ago and love them. I have had a hard time running because of my knees and calve cramping. I heard about minimalist running, thought I would give it a try. These shoes are great. It took some getting used to but my feet and legs found their gait and the knees don't hurt anymore. Not sure others experienced this. I have worn them in 4 mud runs (Spartan Races and Dirty Girl) and they wash out clean and don't stink. They stick to the trail, grip when I need and I feel the terrain so I can place my feet proper. They don't hold mud and stay light throughout the race. I need to get a second pair so I have an additional pair to use while the other one is drying. The fit true to size and after a few uses, the laces and lacing mechanism gave a little and now the shoes fit like a glove.

Bought these and have been very impressed with the feel of them so far. I was running in "toe shoes" before this, but I like the stability and increased sole on these for running on trails. They are comfortable, but still offer the zero-drop of barefoot shoes, which I love.

I have extreme foot pain and I'm looking for "a" shoe with the very best cushion support. I'm not a runner, but I am on my feet all day! I would reallllly appreciate any suggestions. I've tried several shoes and nothing seems to help....any suggestions?
Thank you, Kim

This my second pair of these and I love them. I purchased them instead of toed shoes b/c I don't like the "separated toe" feeling. They were the perfect choice for that reason.I started out wearing them on the treadmill for 15 minutes and quickly worked up to 40 minutes at a go.Lots of tired calf muscles for a bit. I now wear them to all of my classes except weight training. I also wore them around town while visiting in Utah. A little bit tricky with all of the stones on my tender tooties but if you have tougher feet than I do, then"knock your socks off"!
Great for jogging and hiking

Zero-drop shoes suit my feet very well, and I have been quite pleased with this pair. They are super light and perfect for either a city run or all-day hike. They had excellent grip on my most recent day hike despite wet muddy terrain and slippery rocks.
At first, I felt that the ankle box was a little too big, but I realized that if I tied the laces tight enough, the back would tighten up as well. In the next design, I think Merrell should consider slimming and/or lowering the ankles a tad.

best shoe I ever wore, honestly. They are true to size and look fantastic. I wear them all day to work, and have been out on hikes a few times. Haven't worn them when carrying a pack, yet, but will soon. The bad thing is, now all my other shoes don't seem right. I also gave away all my heels. I will have another pair
So comfortable

Love these shoes. Have used them several times for running on concrete and grass--very fun. They are a good looking shoe, low profile, and nice color.
Yep, I love them too

On my 2nd pair in as many years...I'm in residency, so sometimes I don't take these off for 30hrs straight (e.g. on overnight trauma call) - feel great all night. I'd say I wear them easily 100hrs/wk and would not wear any other shoe that much. Also have held up great through hiking over rocks, falls and mud, sea kayaking, and basically anything where you would want a water shoe, or want to hike/climb mixed terrain and need to feel/grip the ground. LOVE these shoes.

I had never tried a shoe like this before, but I'm thrilled with these. I did choose to wear them for short periods of time for a couple of weeks to break them in (they rubbed a bit at the back of my heel) but now they feel great. They're a perfect "everywhere" shoe, lightweight, low profile, comfortable, and they have actually helped with a problem on my left foot, allowing me to walk with less pain than in other shoes.

I really love this shoe! The first time I ran in it I was amazed; these are my first barefoot shoe and I am totally sold. The muscles you use are different so it takes a little getting used to but holy *&%^, they're fun. Great protection from sharp rocks, super light, breathable. Very nice. And Merrell is LOCAL to Utah! Wooo.

Has anyone experienced deep pain in the IT bands after wearing these shoes for about a month?

If you are having IT band problems, it is probably because you are heel-striking too much. That's what they told me--I started to have IT band problems after about a year--because I was heel striking. The problem is, if you are heel striking with these shoes, you will be in a lot of pain. These shoes are made for a barefoot running style.

I have been running for years on my Asics. I kept having IT band issues. So, I thought I would try these, and change my running form also. I have loved them so far. But I had to start off not doing too many miles and I watched a lot of Merrell videos on their website to prevent injury. BUT, I also wear them around. All day! I love the way they feel. They are great with or with out socks. I would recommend them to all my friends!

I bought these for my wife. They ended up a little small and went one size bigger. She loves them. I have a pair as well. I like the large toe box.
New colours different fit

I absolutely LOVE the shoes and have used them for everything from walking the dog to cross fit to indoor climbing. However I have a pair of these in grey/red in a size 6 and just bought the marine/mulberry in a 6.5 as I wanted a little extra toe room for trail running but they are about 1.5 sizes too big!! I will return 6.5 (which is a massive pain as I am in Australia) and get a size 6 again and just hope that they are closer to the original sizing. So just a warning that if you are addicted to these (like I am) and in love with the new colours (again, like me) just be aware that the sizing appears to be rather different.
highly recommended!!

So great!!!! I got a 2nd pair and my mom a pair :) However, I wear usually 8.5-9 for all my shoes, I got the 9 in my first pair and went with 9.5 in the second (this is my only pair of shoes I own this large, so these do run small) I agree it is most comfortable getting them with space in the toe as the other reviews have stated. I use these hiking, trail running and general running in Utah. For mountain use they aren't as protective as boots, obviously, for rocks but the comfort makes it worth it to me. You can feel earth beneath you in these shoes.
great, but a little sore

I bought the pace gloves for barefoot running and have been loving them so far. The feel is great and I think they really do align your stride better. I used to get cramped on runs in the shoulders and hips, and that's gone away in these shoes.
I am a little hesitant though about running longer distances in these. I'm training for an easy 1/2 marathon, so just runs of 3-6 miles in the past month. I run 1/3 trail, 2/3 paved and the lack of cushioning is definitely felt around in the area below my ankles after running. Not sharp pain, just some soreness after running. We'll see if my muscles adjust as miles increase, or I may need to find more cushioning.
I think these are GREAT casual/active shoes though, and LOVE the feel running. I am usually a 7.5 in Merrell with a longer 2nd toe. I tried on the 7.5s and they are a snug, toe-to-the-end fit, so I opted for the size 8. They felt roomy in the toes at first, but not hitting the end is pleasant while running.
