It gives you more energy than uranium.

Moab, Utah, was called the "Uranium Capital of the World" in the 1950s, but that's probably not why you vacation there. You're interested in trekking your Merrell Women's Moab Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot all over the pristine red rocks and testing out its capabilities as you scale arches and meander through slot canyons. The Moab Mid offer the ideal blend of waterproofness, comfort, and protection for your Southern Utah adventures.

The waterproof Dura leather and mesh upper get a weather-abating membrane, M-Select Dry, which seals out water and lets moisture escape so you stay dry when you're on the move. The bellows tongue seals out dirt and debris, while the breathable mesh lining wicks moisture. Merrell treated the Moab Mid with M-Select Fresh to keep odors to a minimum, always appreciated by your adventure partners at the end of the day. Underfoot, the molded nylon arch shank provides stability, while the QForm Comfort midsole provide women's specific stride-sequenced cushioning. You want more cushion? Of course you do, because you'll be crushing it on red rock all day. Merrell stuffed an air cushion in the heel to absorb shock and add stability. The Vibram outsole provides superior grip, so you can go all day, during dry or wet conditions.

Transitioning from a stiff leather hiker to these breathable, cushy, comfy and supportive rockstars was the best gear decision I have made in a while. These shoes are comfortable ALL DAY, and right out of the box. I have used them on backpacking trips, leading summer camps, and day hikes alike.. and plan on bringing them with me this summer to trek the Tour du Mont Blanc. I look forward to my happy feet as I romp around the world.

The ankle support has saved me a number of times, and they are blister free boots! The toe box allows you the control you need to stay comfortable on the trail, but the rest of the foot forms very nicely to your foot.. not too wide! I have very narrow feet and have struggled finding a shoe to fit. These fit both narrow and wide feet comfortably.. not something many boots can claim!

Additionally, my father works as a greens superintendent at a golf course, which means he is walking miles in mush and and mud every day, and these have been his go to shoes for as long as they have been out. Get em!

I wear a size 9 street shoe and purchased a size 9- perfection!

Told my best friend it was time to replace her old ones and so I have feedback to share from her:

My old boots saw me through many adventures and different countries, but that hole in the toe kept growing and it was time to say goodbye. I had mine for 5 years but you should really buy new ones every year if you are using them a lot. They are amazing, color is beautiful. Lightweight. Waterproofing is great, walk through a puddle of water and you will be okay. They are true to size, I bought the same says of my old ones and same size I wear in any other shoe. Merrell for life.

PS. I love the name of them.

Sole Started Ripping on Day 2

I bought these boots for a 30 day trip through the national parks in South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. The toe of the right sole started tearing/ripping away from the shoe the SECOND day I wore them. And we hadn't even done any hiking, just traveling in the car and camping in the Badlands. Unfortunately Merrell doesn't guarantee their gear, or I would have returned these.

I ended up wearing them the remainder of the trip since I knew I couldn't return them, and I needed hiking boots for 90% of our agenda. They are definitely a comfortable boot, even out of the box. I purchased my normal size, 7, and still had PLENTY of room for thick wool socks.

Aside from the sole tearing the 2nd day, these boots do not breathe well at all. We experienced a wide range of weather, from 20 degrees F in the Tetons, to 82 degrees F in Zion. I don't even have particularly sweaty feet, but if your feet sweat AT ALL they will be damp all day, and they will smell. Bad. They also felt way too hot for the warmer Utah days.

Lastly, the laces on these are horrible. I think I had to stop every 10 minutes to retie them, because they kept coming undone. Even if I double knotted them, the laces would loosen right away and the ankle support would become useless.

I was hoping I could use these for some shorter weekend backpacking trips, but after wearing them on day hikes for a few weeks, I realize that would be a miserable experience. Guess I'm in the market for new boots again :(

They still took me some cool places, like in the photo, and the waterproof held up on the left, non-ripped shoe, but I definitely wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

I have a pair of these and convinced my lady and her mother to give them a shot. One hiking season later they are very happy and use them regularly.

    I LOVE these boots!!!

They are so comfortable and completely waterproof! I stepped in a stream a couple of times and no water got inside my shoes. The first time I wore them they were so comfortable and it didn't even seem like they needed to be broken in. I received a lot of compliments about these boots.

      I LOVE these boots!!!

I am still coming down from the amazing all natural high that was my first camping and backpacking adventure, and the amazing scenery that West Virginia has to offer. One of the reasons we were able to have so much fun on our trip was that we were well prepared. Having the right gear makes all the difference. If what you have doesn’t hold up (remind me to tell you about our water filter) or you don’t have what you need, that quickly becomes the focus of your trip. From the sleeping pads and bags to the tent and our packs, we did a pretty damn good job of packing the right stuff. Much of that is due to my boyfriend and his previous experiences. The one item that made the biggest impact for me though, were my new hiking boots.

While I have worn and loved many different types and brands of outdoor and athletic footwear, I continue to come back to Merrell. Their shoes, boots and sandals are designed and constructed to perfection. I’m hard on shoes, beating them to hell and back, but my Merrells have always held up. When we made the decision to start planning this trip, I realized that I didn’t have any hiking boots. I began looking online and comparing prices and specs, reading reviews (of which there weren’t that many – come on ladies we gotta get it together and help each other out). After a day of searching, I had settled on my decision – The Moabs by Merrell. They’re a mid-height, waterproof, sturdy, yet comfortable hiking boot – that doesn’t make you look like you borrowed your little brother’s hiking boots. While my feet were killing me by the end of the three days, it was no fault of my new Merrells. We hiked around 27 miles, way more than I had ever done before so my pronating feet were not prepared.

Thanks to my Moabs, my feet not only survived their first backpacking trip, they came through relatively unscathed. In fact, I only got one teeny, tiny blister (compared to my boyfriend’s two quarter sized blisters) and I’m pretty sure that one happened because my legs grew tired and I wasn’t paying enough attention to where I was putting my feet. I was blown away by the performance of these boots and have fallen even more in love with Merrell and their products…and I wasn’t sure that was possible.

Another tally in the win column for the Moabs, on the last day of the trip, we ran into a couple that we knew from Pittsburgh. Both of us gals had on the same boots! It looks like I’ve made the right selection

I bought these boots, in blue, before my recent trip to CO. I am in love with these boots! I wore them on several hikes, up Gray's peak, and around town. No blisters and no need to break them in! They are so cute too. Several people complimented them which is kind of rare for hiking boots. I will be buying another pair!

I have had these boots for nearly two years now and (aside from being dirty) they feel like they're new. The Merrell footbed seems to fit my foot like they were built from a mold, lucky me, and there was virtually no break-in. I have worn them up mountain trails, across streams, in the snow, and at work (I work with dogs) and they have never let me down. Absolutely love them.

I gave these boots to my girlfriend as a gift for an upcoming trip she was going on. They kept her feet comfortable and dry for the duration of the trip that included 10 mile days with elevation gain/loss. No blisters and no wet, achy feet. The ankle support is also great for those of us with less-than-bombproof ankles.

Fit true to size, and for the pricepoint they are awesome.
