I haven't put a lot of miles on these shoes yet but my initial impression is great! I was in love with the Keen A86 and ran through them last year. Having enjoyed Merrell for my hiking boots I thought I would try this. They are spot on for size. I am a 8.5 and it fit perfectly. It has a wide toe box so you are not cramped running down hill. It has a bit more cushion than I usually go for but over all it is a really comfortable shoe. The lugs provide great grip on the trail. My only complain about the A86 was that the sole constantly slipped out on my longer runs. I have yet to have this problem in the Merrells!

The tread of the Mix Master makes for excellent trail use. The oval lugs really keep you moving over the uneven loose surfaces, and the heel is well cushioned if you're new to barefoot running. I have a narrow foot and found these to be a bit wide through out especially in the toe box. Not my favorite, but definitely worth trying out!
