Beauty that goes right down to the sole.
A tall stiletto boot is not proper après style, FYI; the Merrell Women's Decora Chant Waterproof Boot blends fashion and cozy, dry, and comfy function for the ultimate after-ski boot. Waterproof full-grain leather and pig suede plus a waterproof membrane keep your foot dry and happy; lightweight, efficient insulation adds cozy warmth when temps plummet; and faux fur shows off hot style. Grippy sole provides durable traction on slick, icy surfaces, and the inside zipper makes for easy on and off. Plus this Merrell boot naturally has support via a nylon arch shank, air cushion, and a breathable, odor-fighting lining for all-around party-time comfort.

Stylish & practical go-to winter boots .
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
Let me start by saying I have a hard foot to fit. It's narrow and I have a narrow heel that more often slips than not. So I was worried at first when I slid into these boots and they seemed a bit roomy, maybe allowing too much foot movement. But they turned out to be just right. Once I began using them, I never had any comfort issues. In fact, they are some of the most comfortable shoes I've owned. I've worn them out in snow and ice in below zero temperatures, and the insulation was perfect. My feet did not get cold. When I wear the boots mostly inside all day, they are wonderfully breathable, and my feet don't totally overheat.
It might be hard to tell online, but these boots are surprisingly low-profile. They fit under my straight-leg jeans, but I usually wear them over skinny jeans or leggings (gotta love the faux-fur trim). Though they supposedly have a grippy sole, I still find that my trail running shoes are grippier. Still, these boots are the next best option, with more grip than my other shoes. These are my go-to winter boots that I'm not afraid to trash, but are still stylish enough to wear for a day or night out.
Merrell Decora Chant Waterproof Boot
Not got for low profile foot
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I was looking for a boot in normal winter conditions - snow, slush and ice in which I didn't need the hardcore sorels. Tried on the Merrell Decora and these boots. The Decora laced boot fits the bill for me. It is true to size, and not the typical Merrell that are for super wide feet. I have a low profile foot (bony) with narrow heel and average forefoot. I wear 11 in shoes, 11.5 in Asics and usually 11.5 in most boot. I ordered an 11 and there's enough room in the toe and the width is perfect for Superfeet insole and thick socks.
These Merrell Decora Chant was too wide on top of my foot, and b/c of that my heel was slipping up too much. The Chant would be great for someone with an average to big foot profile and who has wide foot. The Chants are a lot cuter and b/c there no lacing system, it would probably be better for keeping out snow/slush and water.
The soles on both are the same tread that are great for the crazy winters. Insulation is great and they are lightweight as well.
