Merrell's classic light hiker, the Men's Chameleon 5 Ventilator Hiking Shoe, gets its name for its extreme versatility in a range of environments. The adaptable pig suede leather and mesh upper breathes for cool comfort and withstands rough outdoor wear and tear. Merrell also added thin, lightweight external support arms that encircle the heel and wrap around to link up with the lacing for a locked-down fit. In the midsole, a compression-molded EVA footframe provides cushioning for impact-resistance and enduring comfort while the nylon arch shank limits torsional flex for secure footing on rocky trails. A flexible plate in the forefoot adds further protection against bruising that could make day three of a hiking trip a miserable proposition. Merrell finished off this shoe with a Vibram outsole that features 5mm lugs that grip any trail, anywhere with precision and security.
