Description

Fast roller.

Light the fuse. The Maxxis Ignitor is a great 29er tire when you're riding in medium to loose conditions. The tread design was made for top-ranked World Cup Cross Country racers and has already graced the top step of the podium. The tread is well-spaced in the middle to let dirt flow in and out between the blocks while the tightly-spaced side knobs allow you to fly through the corners and use the saved speed to explode out of turns. The 70a rubber tread is tough and long lasting.

The Maxxis Ignitor is produced only in 29x2.1. The casing has 60 TPI and the bead is foldable. The maximum inflation pressure is 65 PSI. The tread is made from 70a durometer rubber. 705g.

  • Tire Durometers: Higher the number the harder the compound, softer durometers grip better, but wear out faster
  • 70a: Hardest compound for maximum tire life, lowest rolling resistance

I run one in front and back. Love it. Great value! Long lasting tire and has stood up well to rocky, loose or hard pack terrain here in SoCal and in Sedona.

I love running Ignitors. They hook up great in everything from loose over hardpack loose. The sidewalls have held up good running these tubeless.

The downside is they only come in a 2.1. I keep an Ignitor on the back of both my singlespeed and geared bikes. I wish they made a 2.4 or even just something with a little more volume to run up front, because they make a good front tire option as well.

Maxxis' website has the tire listed at...

Maxxis' website has the tire listed at 595g (http://www.maxxis.com/Bicycle/Mountain/Ignitor.aspx). Is the 705g weight accurate?

The 29x2.10 is 595 grams.

Thanks for the heads up. We'll fix that spec!
