Description

Peloton quality for larger feet.

A hair too long or not quite wide enough -- you may be tempted to settle for one of these undesirable fit characteristics if you have large, wide, or high-instep feet, and you're looking to wrap them in top-tier cycling shoes. However, the new Mavic Zxellium Maxi Shoes prove that you don't have to settle when it comes to fit. Instead, Mavic has taken its Tour-proven Zxellium Shoes and designed them around a larger last in order to ensure that you can benefit from its stiffness, lightness, and comfort, too.

The Zxellium Maxi's framework includes the Energy Full Carbon Outsole, the Energy Frame +, and the Energy Lock Carbon heel cup. The Full Carbon Outsole provides a flex-free platform that maximizes your transfer of energy to the pedals. Whereas the Energy Frame + is a TPU exoskeleton that increases foothold in key areas of the upper. This increased hold also contributes to shoes' efficient power transfer. Lastly, the Energy Lock Carbon heel cup wraps around the calcaneus bone, and it keeps your heel locked in place for stability. Additionally, the Ergo Fit 3D insole features three foam densities for increased comfort and a supportive heel cradle.

For the upper material, Mavic used synthetic leather and 3D mesh to offer an ideal blend of comfort, durability, and breathability. The Ergo tongue also adds to the comfort with an open mesh construction that provides maximum ventilation. You can secure the Zxellium Maxi Shoe with the two-position Ergo Lite Ratchet Strap and Ergo Strap SL system. And rather than broad hook-and-loop straps that add weight and diminish breathability, the Ergo Strap SL system uses adjustable Kevlar cables over the instep. This system allows you to dial in a better fit, while also increasing overall ventilation.

The Mavic Zxellium Maxi Shoes come with removable traction studs and a mesh shoe bag. They're offered in full and half sizes from 8.0 to 12.5 and in the eye-catching color, Mavic Yellow. And if you're curious about weight, the Zxellium tips the scales around 310 grams for a size 8.5.
