Pedal, descend, and shred.

Mavic's Stratos Men's Shorts are serious business. If Mavic's general commitment to shredability isn't enough to convince you, just look at the design. Mavic made the Stratos to handle XC, AM, and Enduro riding (even some DH won't kill them), with tough but light Trail Tech fabric and plenty of strategically located Trail Tech ST stretch panels to keep them intact in crashes and comfortable when you're churning through the climbs. Laser-cut Micro Vent ventilation panels help you keep your cool when the going heats up, and a hook-and-loop waist adjustment system renders belts useless and sagging shorts a thing of the past. The cut of Stratos is loose enough to work with pads if you want to get all freeridey, but slim enough to wear on full-on XC missions, and the pockets have bonded zippers to increase durability without adding extra bulk.

look carefully at the sizing chart.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Size Bought: med

Mavic sizes run big. I should have ordered a small. I'm a 33 waist so I fall right in-between sizes. However, I feel the shorts are too long and I don't like where they land on my knee. It's annoying when climbing to have the shorts end right at the knee cap. I suspect the small would have landed right above the knee.
I like that they have a high crotch and don't snap on the seat when getting behind the saddle on steep descents. (regardless of the dropper post).
The pockets are mounted too low on the shorts. When pedaling the items in the pocket have more up and down action due to the position on your leg. I like pockets that are positioned higher on the leg so there isn't as much movement of the items in the pocket. i.e. phone, keys, Gu.

Mavic Stratos Shorts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These shorts are durable, lightweight and well made. The fit could be dialed in a bit as the waist is a bit larger than what the size tag would indicate. Longer Velcro tabs to tighten up the waist would be helpful. I have worn these all year and would recommend them. Would like them even better if the size was dialed in. Worn in variable conditions, lots of miles and they don't need to be washed very often.

Tre Awesome

I never notice these shorts while I am riding. The are light, and therefore excellent in the summer, they fit me well (wearing a size large with 33/34 waist) and they have just the right amount of styling to make other people think I know what I'm doing out on the trail. I use the pockets but for lighter weight items. I've also found these to be acceptably durable.

I use a now extinct Swobo liner underneath. These shorts also fit POC's VPD hip shorts underneath them. No experience with kneepads, though.

All in all a solid short.

Been trying to find these Stratos shorts...

Been trying to find these Stratos shorts in size S for a while. Any plans to have that size in stock any time soon? Thnx.
