The folks at Mavic are known for offering high-performance, race-ready gear at entry-level prices. They don't make anything that isn't ready for competition, so when you see a low price tag attached to a Mavic product, you know you're getting a deal. The Rush Maxi Mountain Bike Shoe is a perfect example of what we're talking about. The Rush is loaded with features that are normally only found on top-shelf (and top-price) race shoes. This shoe, the Maxi, is just a wider version of the original Rush Shoe to accommodate riders whose forefeet require a higher-volume shoe.

Mavic starts with an Energy Grip Outsole. The stiff, lightweight outsole is topped off with grippy Contagrip lugs to keep you from going all the way down during an unplanned dab. A Contagrip toe cap offers added protection up front, and removable traction studs provide a bit more safety off the bike.

It's very unusual to find ratchet strap closure on a shoe at this low price point, but Mavic didn't skimp here, either. It uses the Ergo Lite Ratchet–the same ratchet strap used on Mavic's top-shelf race shoes. the Ergo Lite has a large release lever that's easy to use with gloves on, and the strap itself features deep ratchet grooves for strong, positive, long-lasting closure. A synthetic heel counter keeps your heel locked firmly in place for efficient pedaling and elimination of heel blisters. The 3D EVA tongue is ergonomically superior to other companies' flat, lightly padded offerings. Mavic has also upgraded the insole. It's called Ergo Fit 2D. This dual-density insole consists of a firm base material that assumes the shape of your foot with a softer face foam that provides cushioning and shock-absorption.

Mavic Rush Maxi Shoes are packaged with removable traction studs. The shoes come in both whole and half sizes from 3.5 to 13 UK.
