Ksyrium SLS Wheel System

Although aluminum, Mavic's new Ksyrium SLS Wheel System comes in at a lightweight 1395 grams (without tires). This was achieved through Mavic’s rim profile that has been extruded and machined, using Mavic’s ISM 3D Technology to create the highly recognizable shape. The machined brake surface provides skip-free braking. And while many wheels feature traditional eyelet-style spoke holes, Mavic uses its FORE drilling technique to drill only the inner face of the rim to add a threaded insert, thus leaving a large portion of the rim intact. This adds to strength and keeps the rim from becoming flexible under load. To keep the wheel light, the Ksyrium SLS was fitted with a carbon-shelled hubset. The FTS-L aluminum freehub features two stainless steel inserts between the shell and the pawl, giving you the durability of a full aluminum hub. The hubs also have Mavic’s QRM sealed bearings. They are built with Zicral spokes. New for 2015 are the front GripLink and rear PowerLink tires that were designed by Mavic but produced by Hutchinson. They are both 25mm wide for extra grip.
