Every grand tour has at least one wet, cold, and windy stage, but you don't have to be riding in the Alps to require a little protection from the elements. Mavic's HC Men's Vest provides lightweight water- and wind-resistance worthy of hard, drizzly climbs up the Alpe d'Huez, so you won't freeze solid when the weather is less then favorable. Mavic constructed the HC from a lightweight softshell, Warm Shell ST, to keep moderate weather off without trapping moisture against you skin. Warm Shell avoids the crinkly trash-bag feel of traditional rain layers, stretches to accommodate movement, and breathes well so you don't get sweaty, which can be just as bad as getting rained on. Mesh inserts in key places increase breathability, so you don't marinate in your own perspiration. Mavic finished the HC off with two zippered pockets, one in the front and one in the back, plenty of reflective details, and a dropped back hem to keep wheel spray from soaking your back.

  • Warm Shell ST body fabric
  • Mesh inserts
  • One zip chest pocket and one zip back pocket
  • Dropped back hem
  • Reflective details

Great fit and well made.

  • Gender:Male

I am 6' 2 @ 220lbs. I got a large vest and it fits well. Chest is 110cm and I can still add a thick jersey under it. Solid materials and a smart look. Shame that it will get muddy on the trail.

Great Fit and Finish

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First Impressions: the size small vest fits my 5'9" 158lbs frame well. It's close to the body but there is a little room in the chest and neck. Very comfortable and no bunching. The fabric and stitching are excellent.

I'll update the review once I've ridden it through wind and rain.

My husband is 5'9", 170 lbs. (During vacation, he noted he felt too heavy) I typically buy a Large, what size should I buy?

Great Vest

Awesome vest!!! At 6' 0" and 185 lbs I took a chance with a L and I'm glad I did. Great fit and no flapping, finally. Ample storage with both chest pocket for a few bucks and ID and a large single pocket on the back perfect for your arm warmers once the temp starts to rise. The front provides very good wind protection and feels water resistant, although I've yet to wear in the rain. I would definitely recommend this item.

Great for cooler days.

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times

I ordered this vest right after the holidays and using it in the 40 degree weather in South Carolina is perfect. The soft shell is thick enough to provide extra warmth and wind blocking, but not too thick to be cumbersome. Also the off-set zipper is great because it does not irritate my chin. The rear zip pocket is huge and can carry pretty much anything you want.
